Great way to explore the Cape Peninsula
Our tour with AWOL was an absolute standout on our recent trip to Cape Town. The level of organization and communication that took place before and during our tour was so reassuring. Our guide Bevan was knowledgeable about anything we might have questions about – we heard about local culture, history, geography, plants, animals, and Bevan was happy to share his unique perspective as well. He was also laid back and a fun person to spend the day with. We visited the penguins at Boulder Beach, which were delightful to watch. We continued onwards to Cape Point and saw baby Ostriches up close. Bevan was good about getting us a good view without disturbing the wildlife – we appreciated his respect for the animals and felt like we were in good hands amongst the larger tours which (at times) seemed comparatively hectic. We hiked up to the lighthouse to soak in the gorgeous view and snap some pics, before climbing back down to begin our bike ride through Table Mountain National Park. This was certainly the highlight of the day, as we got to stretch our legs, feel the breeze, and enjoy the scenery as well as the thrill of this unique experience. Bevan was always nearby if we needed a break, or more water. After that we grabbed a tasty lunch and continued along the Cape Peninsula, taking in the view from Chapman’s Peak. The flexibility of this tour was wonderful, especially when my partner was eager to bike and I was feeling ill that day. I still got in a good 10-15km but it was nice to have the option to sit in the car while my partner continued her bike ride, rather than stress out about signing up for an activity that I suddenly didn’t have the stamina for. It was also great to be able to pick and choose what stops we wanted to make and for how long. We had considered renting a car and driving along the peninsula ourselves, but we’re so happy we opted for this tour. We felt that we got to make all the stops we wanted on just one tour, had a truly special experience biking together through the park, and actually got to enjoy the view along the Peninsula rather than needing to focus on the road or fight for a view. We highly recommend AWOL tours – we’ll definitely be back!

Brilliant way to discover the Cape
This was an amazing day. The Cape Peninsula itself is incredible but the service from AWOL was 5 stars: great communication prior to booking and then in the lead up to the trip, friendly and knowledgeable guide, and great flexibility as a private tour (I was keen to cycle as much as possible for instance but the support vehicle means it is flexible). Definitely the highlight of my trip.

Amzing day at the Cape
This is an amazing way to experience the Cape and a great way to see everything in one day without feeling that you need to rush and sit in the car queue all day. The guide was extremely knowledgeable and told us much more about SA history than what could be expected. We could cycle as much as we wanted and also some off road. Highly recommend this for families and groups of any kind.

Wonderful ocean side biking tour
We had a private cycling tour from Capetown to Chapmans Peak and back, under the guidance of Dave and Daniel. It was a great experience, must be the most beautiful cycling route in the world, and the good quality bikes and leadership made it a great experience.

Great Sunday ride
This was the highlight of my visit - my guide Paul took me on the iconic ride out Chapman’s Drive. I got to climb the Suikerbossie after hearing about it on car tours! I wish I was staying longer so I could go out again.
