Fantastic Food, Wonderful Guide, Happy Tummies!

We had a fantastic private culinary experience with Chef Alejandro! It was the perfect introduction to authentic Peruvian cuisine. He took us to several wonderful local restaurants and shared the history and culture behind each dish. One of the highlights was watching him prepare a fresh, delicious ceviche right in front of us. We enjoyed an incredible variety of food, including Pan con Chicharrón, empanadas, ceviche, conchas a la chalaca, and lomo saltado, along with chicha morada and a classic Pisco Sour. We also had the opportunity to taste a selection of delicious local Peruvian fruits. We left with full hearts, happy tummies, and a much deeper appreciation for Peruvian food and culture. Highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Peru!

    Delicious and informative!

Alejandro helped us make the most of our time in Lima by taking us through town and giving us an incredible sampling of delicious cuisine. Peru has an infusion of many cultures in the flavors of its dishes and Alejandro's expertise as a chef shines through. He walks us through town but also through history. Highly recommended!

    Best Peruvian food experience

I booked this tour very last minute on my solo trip to Lima, and was super thankful Chef Alejandro was available. This was by far my most favorite experience in Lima. Chef Alejandro is extremely knowledgeable in all things Peruvian cuisine, and would explain anything and everything you had questions on. If you don’t know where to start on your Peruvian food tours, I would 10/10 recommend this experience.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! I'm really glad I could be a part of your trip and that you enjoyed the experience. It was a pleasure sharing Peru’s culinary traditions with you! Safe travels, and I hope to see you again soon!

    Outstanding Peruvian culinary experience!

The whole experience was amazing! Alejandro is super nice and so happy to give us the greatest experience in Lima. I highly recommend it. We got to learn how to make ceviche and pisco sour and enjoyed the full process. The setting is very friendly in a central location in Miraflores. Also beautiful view of Lima!!! Thank you Alejandro!!! You are awesome! We will be back!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the ceviche and pisco sour class and had a great time in Miraflores. It was a pleasure hosting you, and I’m glad the setting and views added to your experience. Looking forward to welcoming you back next time you're in Lima! Safe travels and see you soon! 🌟

Best food tour in Lima! 😋

Absolutely loved this experience! With a few days to spare in Lima before heading to Cusco, we decided to explore the local culinary scene with a food tour in Miraflores. We reached out to Alejandro, the chef and owner, and were thrilled when he personally picked us up from our hotel. The tour itself was exceptional, and the food was simply phenomenal. What made it even more special was Alejandro’s extensive culinary background, having honed his skills in both Peru and the US. This tour is a must-do for any food enthusiast visiting Lima!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your thoughtful review! It was a pleasure to have you on our Food Tasting Tour in Miraflores. I’m glad you enjoyed exploring the vibrant flavors and culture of Lima with me. At Urbina Culinary Experiences, we strive to offer not just a tour, but an authentic taste of what makes our local cuisine so special. I hope the memories—and the flavors—stay with you as you continue your journey through Peru. Safe travels to Cusco, and if your path leads you back to Lima, we’d love to have you join us again!

Private Culinary Experience: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Lima.

How much does Private Culinary Experience cost?

    +

Prices start at $85 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Lima usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private Culinary Experience take?

    +

Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Lima is not rushed.

Is Private Culinary Experience worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 64 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 14 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Lima, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private Culinary Experience?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private Culinary Experience suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private Culinary Experience?

    +

Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Lima can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Lima and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private Culinary Experience start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Lima within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Lima?

    +

On Outty we rank every Lima experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Premium Paracas & Huacachina Day Trip from Lima with Sunset Toast, Paracas and Huacachina Exclusive Sunset Picnic Tour, Paracas & Huacachina Premium Experience from Lima. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Lima?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Lima?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
