Sfakia is the land of the massive Lefka Ori, also known as the White Mountains, famous for Pachnes, its highest peak as well, the numerous gorges, and the endless views to the Libyan Sea. Aside from this astonishing beauty, the land of Sfakia has a million tales to tell you, such as stories about the turbulent but heroic past of brave rebel Sfakians, who fought for freedom. The first stop of your day tour will be at a family-owned cheese & yogurt small-scale factory, where you’ll take a local breakfast. Imbros Gorge
During the 2,5 hours approximately easy hike, you’ll have the opportunity to admire amazing geological formations of very narrow passages, capture your best photos with your family and learn about the fauna and flora that you’ll encounter along the way. Especially for Australian, New Zealander, British, or WWII story lovers, walking through the gorge is almost a pilgrimage, as this gorge was the only escape route in May 1941 by fleeing ANZACs who fought with the allied troops in Crete, and finally, they succeeded in sailing to Egypt. Your guide will have many breathtaking stories to share with you.

Hot and a Nudist Colony
I t was very hot and I was peeling on my nose.It had sandy beaches but full of nude bathers. The cocktail bars with pools were just as bad. There were many leud onlookers. The offshore island I had visited was better. I had gone for a walk in the afternoon so had another Asian woman and found the nudist beaches offensive. Knossos the Egyptian relics were nice. The BBQ in my self catering compound was nice, not too expensive. My room was spacious and had a cooker but no grill or oven .I couldn't make any toast for breakfast. The grocer where I had bought my shopping was nearby. I had tea at a nice seaside cafe. I had nice greek food Moussaka at a pretty restaurant and another Cuttel fish dish at another restaurant. The food was cheap. I went to a nice village I wanted to visit nearby. The swimming pool in my compound was clean and I swam a lap no nude bahers except on the last day ,a director's wife. Only snag I had to vacate my room at 12 midnight though I had paid extra for a few more hours extra. I had bought a tiny bell, a grecian vase and a dolphin cotton rug. They weren't expensive. There was a British couple who gate crashed to get a free ride on the coach to the airport Erkelon, the Capital for my return flight to Heathrow. Beware of strangers!

Great day in western crete!
We had the perfect day with Yiannis. Planning was easy with Rebecca (although the pick up location was changed at the last minute). Once our guide arrived with a comfortable van that fit our family of 6, we had the perfect day. First, the guide was incredible. He engaged all three generations of our family with ease and was so knowledgeable and fun to be around. We enjoyed all the visits on the tour and ate incredibly well. It was the perfect day and we highly recommend booking with Grecian Luxe, a company that clearly has high standards for its guides and guests.
Response from the operator: Hello F7329YCrachelr, We're elated by your enthusiastic feedback! It brings us great joy to know that you enjoyed both the sights and the delicious culinary delights along the way in the company of our guide, Yiannis. Your glowing recommendation reaffirms our commitment to providing exceptional experiences with guides who uphold our high standards. Thank you for choosing Grecian Lux—we can't wait to create more great days in Greece with you in the future! Warm Regards, Rebecca Skevaki General Manager

Private Crete Far West Adventure: Hiking, History & Beaches: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Chania.
How much does Private Crete Far West Adventure: Hiking, History & Beaches cost?
+
Prices start at $328 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Chania usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private Crete Far West Adventure: Hiking, History & Beaches take?
+
Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Chania is not rushed.
Is Private Crete Far West Adventure: Hiking, History & Beaches worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 54 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.3/5 across 3 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Chania, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private Crete Far West Adventure: Hiking, History & Beaches?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private Crete Far West Adventure: Hiking, History & Beaches suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private Crete Far West Adventure: Hiking, History & Beaches?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Chania can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Chania and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private Crete Far West Adventure: Hiking, History & Beaches start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Chania within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Chania?
+
On Outty we rank every Chania experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Cretan Safari – 4x4 Adventure to Preveli Beach with Lunch, Elafonisi & Falasarna Small Group Tour from Chania w/snacks, Half-Day Rethymno Quad Safari. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Chania?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Chania?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
