The most heartwarming chef in Colombia!

Awesome way to learn about traditional colombian cooking! Liz is a wonderful person, sharing her passion for cooking in a natural way. She should def start her own cooking show!

A glimpse into Bogota through food!

Fun and educational. A look into the real Bogota through both shopping for food in a local market and cooking in a home. Enlightening, fun and tasty. A rare opportunity. Well worth it and highly recommended.

    Great experience

Definitely a five star experience. We met at the market to buy for ingredients and then prepared two appetizers and one main course. I’ve taken similar classes all over the world, and this was one of my favorites. Liz is a joy to be around and full of knowledge regarding cooking. She went above and beyond the tour and accompanied me to a local supermarket to buy dried herbs so I could replicate Ajiaco back in the US. I can’t thank you enough Liz for the wonderful experience!

    Enjoyable evening

Overall, the cooking class was good, and Liz was absolutely wonderful. Liz asked us if we could move our class time from 9 AM to 3 PM and we agreed. Unfortunately, our Uber driver took us to the wrong location so we were 30 minutes late meeting at the market. By that time, the market was getting ready to close. They didn't have all the ingredients that we needed for our selected dishes we were going to learn to cook, so we made a last-minute change in menu. It also was a bit of a surprise that the cost of the ingredients weren't included in the price of the class. It wasn't a huge deal since the ingredients only cost probably $25 USD but we bought more ingredients than we needed for the recipes (i.e., bag of flour that we used a 1/3, etc) The recipes we made were full recipes that made enough for about 6 to 8 people with leftover uncooked ingredients. WE wish there had been to-go boxes for the leftovers of food and ingredients that we had bought so we would have been able to share the delicious food with our friends later that night. We are still looking forward to receiving the recipes from Liz.

    Best Cooking Class Experience

Loved this immersive experience from selecting the dishes I wanted to make, to shopping for the ingredients at the local market to then graciously being welcomed into her apartment to make the food. Very calm experience, cooking to whatever music we wanted, learning new techniques I hadn’t known for the hogao sauce for the patacones & making the patacones themselves. The food we made from vegan ajiaco con tofu to arepas to patacones, this was the best food I had in Colombia and glad to know how to make myself. Thank you so much Liz for offering this experience!

Private Colombian Cooking Class and Market Tour In Bogota: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Bogotá.

How much does Private Colombian Cooking Class and Market Tour In Bogota cost?

    +

Prices start at $95 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Bogotá usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private Colombian Cooking Class and Market Tour In Bogota take?

    +

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Bogotá is not rushed.

Is Private Colombian Cooking Class and Market Tour In Bogota worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 70 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 52 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Bogotá, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private Colombian Cooking Class and Market Tour In Bogota?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private Colombian Cooking Class and Market Tour In Bogota suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private Colombian Cooking Class and Market Tour In Bogota?

    +

Around 18 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Bogotá can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Bogotá and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private Colombian Cooking Class and Market Tour In Bogota start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Bogotá within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Bogotá?

    +

On Outty we rank every Bogotá experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Free Graffiti Walking Tour Every Day in Bogota, Bogota Zipaquira Salt Cathedral Private Tour + Lunch, Private City Tour Bogota + Monserrate, Gold, Botero and Candelaria.. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Bogotá?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Bogotá?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
