Amazing experience
Exceptional activity! The driver Eduardo was very friendly and his driving was perfectly safe. As for the guide Simon Chavez, in more than 15 years of traveling around the world, I have rarely met a person so cultured and passionate about sharing his knowledge. It was an absolutely extraordinary experience. The only small improvement would be to offer a small snack on the way home. I highly recommend! Outstanding activity! The driver Eduardo was very friendly and driven with complete safety. As for the guide Simon Chavez, in over 15 years of travel around the world, I have rarely met someone so knowledgeable and genuinely happy to share their expertise. It was an absolutely extraordinary experience. The only small improvement would be to offer a light snack on the return journey. Highly recommended!

Amazing day of history and adventure!
Our private tour was worth every penny! Our guide, Alvaro was a wonderful guide, had a wealth of knowledge and took great care of us all day! Our experience at the ruins was wonderful. Ek Balam was unique and older than Chichen Itza. Because it’s a newer discovered site, we were able to climb the steps and go inside some of the buildings. Lunch was amazing and the cenote was exciting!
Response from the operator: Dear Carrie, Thank you for your glowing review! We're thrilled Alvaro made your tour to Ek Balam memorable with his expertise and care. It's great to hear you enjoyed the unique aspects of the ruins, the delicious lunch, and the excitement of the cenote. Your satisfaction is our top priority, and feedback like yours makes it all worthwhile. We look forward to your next adventure with us! Best regards, The OLMar Travel Mexico Team

Ek Balam, Chichen-Itza, Cenote and Lunch all simply wonderful
Our tour guide, Alvaro, was amazing. He asked questions and suggested an itinerary to meet our interests. His knowledge of the area and history was remarkable. Alvaro has been a tour guide for 22 years and it came through in every aspect of our tour. This was our second time visitng Chichen-Itza and Alvaro provided information and insight we did not get the first time. Ek Balam was wonderful, it is less visited and smaller than Chichen-Itza and provides and look into everyday Mayan life with some parts of the site still undiscovered and uneartherd by archeologists.

Fantastic
It was so nice to have a guide with us and having great knowledge the area. Our guide took us to all of the places scheduled at a pace we could keep up with us. There were 4 of us on this tour and I’m handicapped. I did not feel rushed

Excellent Trip
Alvaro was an excellent driver and tour guide. Very knowledgeable about the areas we saw. Brought us to a very nice place for lunch that served authentic Mexican food. He was very conscious regarding our group handicaps. Very comfortable car.

Why this scores 57
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private Chichen Itza, Ek Balam, and Ik Kil Cenote, Lunch: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cancun.
How much does Private Chichen Itza, Ek Balam, and Ik Kil Cenote, Lunch cost?
+
Prices start at $311 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cancun usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private Chichen Itza, Ek Balam, and Ik Kil Cenote, Lunch take?
+
Plan for about 12 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cancun is not rushed.
Is Private Chichen Itza, Ek Balam, and Ik Kil Cenote, Lunch worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 57 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Cancun, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private Chichen Itza, Ek Balam, and Ik Kil Cenote, Lunch?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private Chichen Itza, Ek Balam, and Ik Kil Cenote, Lunch suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 12-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private Chichen Itza, Ek Balam, and Ik Kil Cenote, Lunch?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cancun can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cancun and add a light layer if any part of the 12-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private Chichen Itza, Ek Balam, and Ik Kil Cenote, Lunch start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cancun within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Cancun?
+
On Outty we rank every Cancun experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Early Access to Chichen Itza All Inclusive with Valladolid and Cenote Swim, Whale Shark Tour from Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Tulum and Riviera Maya, Small-Group 3 Hidden Cenotes Adventure with Tequila Tasting. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Cancun?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Cancun?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
