Great 3 hours- particularly if the weather is raining
Whilst there was no ‘guide’ our drivers were the guides. They tailored the trip to what we asked for- local market lunch, a couple of temples and some shopping. They were super knowledgeable. The tuk tuk experience is a must

Mediocre
It was quite a dismal experience. I only realised after the activity that the ticket/ booking only included the driver of the tuk tuk and not a guide. It would have been nice to have an informative guide and I used chatGPT to teach me about the temples I was seeing. The driver also didn't inform me that the 3 King's Monument was closed. I had to ask to be taken to the market which was on the itinerary. I was dropped off at my hotel an hour before the stipulated tour ending time. Quite disappointing as most of what I saw could be arrived at on foot.
Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We are truly sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations. We sincerely apologize for any confusion regarding the tour inclusions. We understand how valuable having an informative guide can be, and we are also sorry that the closure of the Three Kings Monument was not properly informed to you, and that parts of the itinerary required you to request them directly. Additionally, we apologize that the tour ended earlier than expected, which understandably added to your disappointment. Your comments are very important to us, and we will use them to improve both our communication and service quality for future guests. We truly appreciate your honest feedback and regret that we were unable to provide the enjoyable experience you were hoping for. Thank you again for bringing these matters to our attention, and we hope to have the opportunity to serve you better in the future. Best Regards, Oh-Hoo Team

Cheap and easy way to see around town
We just booked the temple tour no guide and it was spot on. Good way to see around town and a few temples at our own pace. For $45 it was well worth it. He even stopped at pharmacy and supermarket for us too. Very accommodating
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your kind review. We’re very happy to hear that you enjoyed the temple tour and had the flexibility to explore at your own pace. It’s also great to know that our driver could help make your trip more comfortable and convenient. Thank you again for choosing us, and we hope to see you again next time!

Truly wonderful
We had an amazing experience with Non as our guide. He was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and made the visit truly memorable. Watching the sunrise at Wat Phra That Doi Suthep was absolutely breathtaking and definitely a must-do in Chiang Mai. What made it even more special was Non’s thoughtful explanations of Buddhism—he brought so much meaning and context to everything we saw. Highly recommended!”
Response from the operator: Thank you very much for your wonderful and thoughtful review. We are truly delighted to hear that you had such an amazing experience with Non as your guide. We appreciate your kind words about how Non’s explanations of Buddhism added meaning and depth to your visit. Thank you again for your high recommendation. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back for another meaningful experience in the future. Best Regards, Oh-Hoo Team

Why this scores 72
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private Chiang Mai Old City Half Day Tuk Tuk Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Chiang Mai.
How much does Private Chiang Mai Old City Half Day Tuk Tuk Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $36 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Chiang Mai usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private Chiang Mai Old City Half Day Tuk Tuk Tour take?
+
Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Chiang Mai is not rushed.
Is Private Chiang Mai Old City Half Day Tuk Tuk Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 72 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.4/5 across 181 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Chiang Mai, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private Chiang Mai Old City Half Day Tuk Tuk Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private Chiang Mai Old City Half Day Tuk Tuk Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private Chiang Mai Old City Half Day Tuk Tuk Tour?
+
Around 63 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Chiang Mai can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Chiang Mai and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private Chiang Mai Old City Half Day Tuk Tuk Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Chiang Mai within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Chiang Mai?
+
On Outty we rank every Chiang Mai experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Half-Day Thai Cooking Class at Organic Farm in Chiang Mai, Full Day Thai Cooking at Farm (Chiang Mai), Thai and Akha Cooking Class in Chiang Mai. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Chiang Mai?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Chiang Mai?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
