Cannot recommend Zara and her paella making/Sabrage activity enough - OUTSTANDING!

Our host, Zara, was the star of the show. A fantastic and natural facilitator, she MADE our family reunion be the most memorable event for our family visitors from Australia and our children (there were 8 of us - 4 of us in our 60's and 4 in their 30's). She was SO welcoming and her Academy room is perfect with lots of interesting memorabilia. Launching straight into paella making as we arrived, with crisp aprons for everyone and wonderfully organised chopping for all, we enjoyed chatting and listening to her explain the paella making steps. She had an assistant, Fi, in the kitchen who was a great help to keep an eye on the cooking while we did the activity. Zara skillfully balanced telling us about cooking techniques with our need to chat to each other! This activity is BRILLIANT for multi-generational groups. We ALL learnt something we didn't know and in between making, Zara introduced us to Sabrage! We had all looked forward to this part and the fun exceeded expectations as we each had a go throughout the afternoon - with much Cava flowing in between. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect activity (all indoors, much to our relief as there was torrential rain all day) or more perfect host. Timings worked really well for the 8 of us and we were about half an hour over time, but Zara was very relaxed and let us finish our drinks. Zara also messaged before hand via WhatsApp to confirm details and request dietary requirements - as I'm a vegetarian (the others had mixed paella) she had very kindly organised soy pieces and butter beans as protein. Thank you so much, Zara, for hosting an incredible and very special afternoon for our family. We would highly recommend this activity - the food tasted incredible and the Sabrage experience is the icing on the cake!

    A True Paella-Making Experience

We loved learning to make paella with Zara. We took a private class with wine pairing and really enjoyed actually learning to make paella from start to finish, rather than just focusing on the prep. There are a lot of details in the process and I am very glad to have gotten first-hand experience. We went with a traditional Valencian paella, but Zara explains how to make a similar base and then make different styles when you make them in the future. The paella we made was so delicious and we were already able to successfully make paella again when we came home (over a campfire!). Zara has loads of experience and is a great resource for all things cooking, wine and traveling Spain.

    Wonderful night cooking with Zara

We made Vegan and Mixed paella. Zara's kindness and patience were evident. She took us through stock, chopping the veg, sofrito, all the way through completed paella and a pitcher of Sangria. We will definitely try to book another class the next time we are in Barcelona.

Amazing night with Zara - 10/10

We spent an evening with Zara at Savour Academy as part of a trip to Barcelona to celebrate a 40th Birthday. We were looking for something different to do, something beyond a bar or restaurant. This didn't dissapoint! We had so much fun doing sabrage and Zara is so knowledgeable, while being great fun. It was such a memorable experience. Delicious food and beautiful cava. Would recommend to everyone.

Private Cava Sabrage and Paella Class in Barcelona: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Barcelona.

How much does Private Cava Sabrage and Paella Class in Barcelona cost?

    +

Prices start at €110 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Barcelona usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private Cava Sabrage and Paella Class in Barcelona take?

    +

Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Barcelona is not rushed.

Is Private Cava Sabrage and Paella Class in Barcelona worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 61 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 9 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Barcelona, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private Cava Sabrage and Paella Class in Barcelona?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private Cava Sabrage and Paella Class in Barcelona suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private Cava Sabrage and Paella Class in Barcelona?

    +

Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Barcelona can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Barcelona and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private Cava Sabrage and Paella Class in Barcelona start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Barcelona within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Barcelona?

    +

Barcelona's Gaudí sites are capacity-limited and the official timed tickets go first, so most of the market is resellers with a guide attached. We weight those heavily on whether the guide is an architecture specialist. Beyond Gaudí, the tapas crawls in Gràcia and the Montserrat day trips carry the highest rankings in the city. On Outty we rank every Barcelona experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Costa Brava Tour: Kayak, Snorkel & Cliff Jump from Barcelona, Gràcia Tapas and Vermouth Crawl, Girona & Dali Museum Small Group Tour with Pick-up from Barcelona. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Barcelona?

    +

May, June, September and October. Sagrada Família light is best mid-morning. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Barcelona?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.

What is included in Private Cava Sabrage and Paella Class in Barcelona?

    +

Included: All Fees and Taxes; Alcoholic beverages; Snacks; and Lunch. Always check the voucher for the final list before you travel.

Where is the meeting point for Private Cava Sabrage and Paella Class in Barcelona?

    +

The venue is at street level, besides building number 12. Look for the wine barrel! Hotel pickup is not included, so plan your own transport and arrive 15 minutes early.

What languages is Private Cava Sabrage and Paella Class in Barcelona offered in?

    +

It is offered in English, Italian, French and Spanish. Pick your language when choosing a date and time, as not every departure runs in every language.

Will I get instant confirmation and a mobile ticket for Private Cava Sabrage and Paella Class in Barcelona?

    +

Confirmation is sent by the operator after booking, usually within 48 hours; if it is not confirmed you are not charged. Mobile tickets are accepted, so you can show the voucher on your phone.

Is Private Cava Sabrage and Paella Class in Barcelona wheelchair or stroller accessible?

    +

If accessibility is critical, contact the operator after booking to confirm arrangements for your date.
