1. Pasabag Vadisi

   Paşabağ (Monks Valley) is one of the most iconic and photogenic sites in Cappadocia. It is located near the town of Avanos in Nevşehir. It is renowned for its stunning and unique fairy chimney formations. Its most distinctive feature is the presence of "multi-capped" fairy chimneys—tall rock pillars with two or even three large boulders balancing on top of them, creating a surreal and fascinating landscape. Historical Significance: The valley is also historically known as the "Valley of the Monks." Many of these chimneys were hollowed out and used as hermitages and small chapels by monks seeking solitude. One of the most famous inhabitants was St. Simeon. Why Visit? Their distinct, phallic appearance is what gave the valley its suggestive and memorable name. 3. Zelve Open Air Museum

   Zelve Open Air Museum is one of Cappadocia's oldest and most impressive settlement areas. This expansive site, connecting three valleys, features homes, monasteries, churches, and even a mosque carved directly into the fairy chimney formations. History: It was a continuously inhabited dwelling place from the Byzantine era until 1952. The local population was relocated to nearby Yeni Zelve (New Zelve) in the 1950s due to the dangers of erosion. Significance: It is one of the most important sites in Cappadocia to see traces of early Christianity. It also represents a cultural mosaic, as it was a place where a Muslim population also lived and worshipped (Zelve Mosque). What to See: Important religious structures like the Fish (Balıklı), Grape (Üzümlü), and Deer (Geyikli) Churches, as well as tunnels, living quarters, and monastery complexes.

4. Devrent Valley

   It is one of Cappadocia's most unique and creative valleys. Unlike other valleys, there are no churches or settlements here. The valley's sole and fascinating feature is its extraordinary fairy chimney formations, shaped by rain and wind erosion. Location: It is located near Avanos, very close to other important sites (like Paşabağ and Zelve). Feature: The shapes of the fairy chimneys are often likened to human and animal figures. The most famous formations include those that resemble a camel, dolphin, seals, a snake, and a Madonna statue. Why Visit? This is a fun and photogenic place where you can use your imagination to the fullest. It is also very enjoyable for children.
