This is a famous monument of the only dog -a Great Dane- in SA, ever to be enlisted in the Royal Navy shore establishment in Simon’s Town between 1939 and 1944. Seeing these charming little creatures in their waddle from the bushes unto the white sandy beach, then to the turquoise waters of sea was surreal. The sense of history here is palpable — Cliffs view points were nothing short of spectacular: South Africa’s Grand Canyon. At the Boulders Beach, in a fascinating coastal town of Simon's Town, the African Penguins were our day highlight. These little tuxedoed locals were the stars of the show! Their cheeky personalities and endearing antics left everyone smiling. The beach itself is pristine, and the boardwalks all around the colony made it easy to get those perfect penguin pics. The boat ride to the Seals Island in Hout Bay was smooth and scenic; seeing the seals sunbathe and splash around in their rocky kingdom was a thrill.
