About this experience
Blue Pools is a fantastic beginner canyon. There are 3 - 4 rappels and a scramble/ hike back to the car. The largest rappel is 55 feet. We aim for this trip to take 2 - 3 hrs depending on group size. All of our trips are private so you are not waiting on anyone besides your group. You will meet your guide at the trailhead, become outfitted with the appropriate canyon gear, and then your guide will lead you down this wonderful slot canyon. This canyon has primarily been sculpted through water erosion over time to give us an obstacle course to play in. The canyon is typically dry however can hold a little water after a storm.

A Transformative and Exhilarating Adventure!
What an exhilarating morning we had with Mike Dunn, owner of Sundial Guiding. We booked a 3-hour canyoneering adventure through Under Canvas (Lake Powell-Grand Staircase), and it was the highlight of our trip! Mike saw more in my husband and me than we saw in ourselves. We didn't realize our alter egos were Tom Cruise and Sporty Spice! While I initially thought I had signed us up for an easy-to-moderate hike, Mike delivered a truly transformative experience. He guided us through stunning slot canyons, showed us ancient petroglyphs, and crushed cars! The absolute highlight was the three rappels. With Mike’s expertise, clear instructions, and constant encouragement, we felt completely safe while getting our adrenaline fix. We left with a massive sense of accomplishment and a "heck yeah, we really just did that!" feeling. If you want a guide who is knowledgeable, encouraging, and knows how to push you just the right amount, book with Mike. Five stars isn't enough!
Response from the operator: Wow—this made my day to read. Thank you so much for taking the time to share it. It was an absolute blast getting out there with you both. I love that you leaned into the adventure and trusted the process—even when it turned out to be a bit more than you expected at first. That’s usually where the magic happens. Those slot canyons have a way of bringing out that “alter ego” energy, and you two absolutely showed up for it. The rappels, the views, the little moments in between—it all came together in a pretty special way. And yeah… crushing cars might need to become a standard part of every trip now. I’m really glad you left with that “we really just did that” feeling—that’s exactly what we’re going for. Hope we get to get you back out here again for round two. There are plenty more canyons waiting. —Mike Sundial Guiding

Great canyoneering tour with Mike
Went on a girls weekend trip and booked a canyoneering tour through the slot canyons with Sundial Guiding. Mike was our guide and was excellent! We misunderstood the time change and he was kind without a word frustration when we arrived 40 minutes late. My friends and I had the best time. I’ve been rappelling on several other tours and Mike was the best guide I’ve had.
Response from the operator: Thanks for sharing this. Really glad you all had a great time out there with Mike. Sounds like he handled the late start smoothly and still made it a fun, solid day in the canyon. Appreciate you coming out with Sundial Guiding and hope we see you again soon!

Great tour, a must do
We had fantastic time with guide Mike and his furry assistant. Our first time repelling and we loved it from start to finish. Mike made it informative, reasonably challenging and very safe at the same time. Instructions were clear, jokes were funny, timing was perfect. A must do experience if you’re visiting the area.
Response from the operator: We love to hear it, thank you!

Wife's bucket list adventure
A repelling adventure was on my 61 year old wife's bucket list. So I booked an adventure with Canyoneering near Lake Powell. We met up with our Guide Jared at 8am. I am a 64 year old man with Parkinson's disease that causes me to have balance issues and I am not thrilled with heights. Jarod thoroughly explained everything and made us feel totally at ease. We had never repelled before and my wife was a little apprehensive at the first repell so I went first. After seeing how much I enjoyed it she was ready to go. There were four repells to get through the canyon with each one longer than the previous one. We had a blast and wished we could do more. Very fun. Jarod was an excellent guide. The only negative was the hot hike through the hot desert back to our parking spot. Highly recommend this company and we are ready to go again.
Response from the operator: I'm do glad y'all had an amazing time and we can't wait to adventure with y'all again!! :)

Best canyoneering trip!
We did a canyoneering excursion with Jared. We had no experience coming in but were excited to try something new. It did not disappoint. Jared was super friendly and a great instructor. We felt comfortable and able to complete several repels, the last one was an add-on, for anyone who feels comfortable, at nearly 80 feet! Spectacular scenery and Jared shared a lot of great information about the area as we navigated the canyon. He made the experience unforgettable. Anyone with any level of proficiency would enjoy this trip. We highly recommend!
Response from the operator: Richard, we're really glad you had such a great first canyoneering experience with Jared. Sounds like you crushed those rappels—especially that 80-footer! We appreciate you coming out with us and hope to see you again for another adventure soon.

Why this scores 64
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private Canyoneering Adventure Near Lake Powell: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Page.
How much does Private Canyoneering Adventure Near Lake Powell cost?
+
Prices start at $195 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Page usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private Canyoneering Adventure Near Lake Powell take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Page is not rushed.
Is Private Canyoneering Adventure Near Lake Powell worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 64 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 14 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Page, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private Canyoneering Adventure Near Lake Powell?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private Canyoneering Adventure Near Lake Powell suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private Canyoneering Adventure Near Lake Powell?
+
Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Page can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Page and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private Canyoneering Adventure Near Lake Powell start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Page within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Page?
+
Page exists for two icons: guided Antelope Canyon slot tours, which are the only legal way in, and Horseshoe Bend overlooks, plus Lake Powell boat trips and Colorado River float runs. On Outty we rank every Page experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Lower Antelope Canyon Hiking Tour, Navajo Dinner Theater, Hoop Dancing, and Native Storytelling, Secret Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend Overlook. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Page?
+
March to May and September to October; midday canyon slots are best for light beams. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Page?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
