    City tour in Cairo

Ahmoud K. gave a nice food tour to his favorite restaurant in the Cairo area. After that we drove around and saw different parts of the city and he explained about city life in Cairo

    Very frightening experience

This experience went from bad to worse. First, the driver called early in the morning to ask us to change the pickup time by 6 hours. We said no. Then he called us to ask if we could change the time by 3 hours. We said no, the time we paid for was for fit our plans and that we would have to cancel if he could not make the scheduled time. So he then agreed to pick us up at the scheduled time. At that point he asked us what we wanted to do! We said to follow the agenda stated on the tour site. Lots of driving, not air conditioned. Picked up the guide after 45 minutes of driving. Stopped for mango juice while sitting in the car. Stopped at a “medical oil, lotion, perfume store. Felt pressured to purchase by our guide and owner. Afraid of being abandoned. Then pointed out sites, lots of driving, then local lunch. Which was very good and more what we expected. Then a papyrus store where we refused to purchase anything. Our guide was not happy. Then more driving and we stopped for coffee. So again I said that we were not interested in shopping. Please just local food. But he insisted that we go to the cotton shop for “just 5 minutes”. I purchased a scarf because we really felt they would abandon us on the street. We then asked them to return us to our hotel. We tipped them because we knew they had our names, hotel, and phone numbers. Most frightening experience we have ever had. We even waited until we left Cairo before leaving this review, it was that bad.

    Fun experience and good food

The street food was delicious and filling, and your guide provided a great walking tour of the local neighborhood and bazaar.

    Great, definitely recommended

    - Great Food (Falafel, Shawarma, Coffee, and Koshari) - Excellent Guide (impeccable English) DO NOT eat before the tour, we couldn't finish a single dish, but we also started at 9am, because it was our departure day. We got picked up on time, our guide waited in the hostels lobby. He asked us how we want to structure the tour and we decided to do one restaurant, coffee and then the other restaurant. The tour began with a trip to a restaurant that served Falafel and Shawarma (awesome taste). After that we took a tour of the market and settled in a coffee place. Finally we went to a Koshari place before getting back to the hostel. Our guide was a young English/Egyptology major and we had a really nice time with him.

Private Cairo Street Food Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cairo.

How much does Private Cairo Street Food Tour cost?

    +

Prices start at $75 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cairo usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private Cairo Street Food Tour take?

    +

Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cairo is not rushed.

Is Private Cairo Street Food Tour worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 47 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.8/5 across 4 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cairo, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private Cairo Street Food Tour?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private Cairo Street Food Tour suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private Cairo Street Food Tour?

    +

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cairo can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cairo and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private Cairo Street Food Tour start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cairo within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Cairo?

    +

On Outty we rank every Cairo experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include All-in-One Giza Tour, inside Pyramid, sphinx, Camel ride & lunch, VIP Private Giza Pyramids, Sphinx Tour –Inside the Pyramids&More, Best of Cairo Private Giza Pyramids, Sphinx and Grand Museum Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Cairo?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Cairo?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
