    The best option in Beijing

An unforgettable day: visit the Great Wall and tour of Beijing, all thanks to Catherine Lu agency and, especially, our guide Song. They were very punctual in pickup, the car was spotless and the driver was very professional. Song, being from Beijing, knows perfectly well the city, its customs and the best places to visit. In addition, he speaks Spanish fluently, which made the experience much more comfortable. Throughout the tour he explained the history of the country and gave us excellent recommendations (visits, shopping, etc.). We would certainly choose this agency again, and Song in particular, for any future visit to Beijing.

    Amazing experience

We made a private guide in the Forbidden City and Mutianyu Great Wall with Marmo 牧童遥指, an old man guiding us. He was incredible, very experienced and kind. He explained very deeply every aspect of the Forbidden City, and it was a real pleasure walking with him and listen to all of his stories!

Excellent full day tour of Forbidden City & Great Wall

Excellent tour of bother the forbidden city and Great Wall with tour guide Justin and driver who met me at hotel and returned me there afterwards. Justin had great knowledge and pitched it just right I. Terms of how much to explain and when to hang back a bit. I really enjoyed the day and would recommend Catherine Lu tours if you have a stop over day in Beijing.

Private layover trip to Great Wall of China and Forbidden City

My husband booked the layover trip with Catherine Tours after looking at their reviews online especially because I was traveling solo and wanted someone safe and reliable. I must say they were just that and even more! The driver picked me from the airport as was clearly communicated in the email. Even though he didn’t speak English, he was super nice and chivalrous and helpful. I met my guide Nico on our way to the Great Wall of China. Nico is amazing!!! He is very friendly, knowledgeable and gave me an exceptional tour. He has an undergrad in History and you can feel his passion as he talks about the history of China. I thoroughly enjoyed talking to him on various topics and learnt so much! He also took me to this farm restaurant for lunch and the food was simply delicious! I love spicy food and he made sure he got me to the right place! After lunch we headed to the Tianmenn Square and Forbidden City. Again, Nico would explain everything in detail. Finally, I was dropped to the airport well before my boarding. The trip did not feel rushed and well paced. They are also very communicative and make sure to keep you in loop with any questions you may have. Since my phone wasn’t working, my husband got in touch with the tour and they relayed the information to my husband and me. I will highly recommend Catherine Lu tours to everyone and Nico especially was simply amazing!!

Absolutely amazing trip to the Great Wall

We had an amazing layover trip to the Great Wall with our guide, Nico. He was very knowledgeable and friendly and we got a lot of great information. He even knew more about our own country's history than we did. We also had a great driver who was very kind and helpful (think his name was choo, not sure the spelling is correct). The Great Wall was beautiful and we had it mostly for ourselves.

Private Beijing Layover to Mutianyu Great Wall & Forbidden City: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Beijing.

How much does Private Beijing Layover to Mutianyu Great Wall & Forbidden City cost?

    +

Prices start at $80 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Beijing usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private Beijing Layover to Mutianyu Great Wall & Forbidden City take?

    +

Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Beijing is not rushed.

Is Private Beijing Layover to Mutianyu Great Wall & Forbidden City worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 64 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Beijing, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private Beijing Layover to Mutianyu Great Wall & Forbidden City?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private Beijing Layover to Mutianyu Great Wall & Forbidden City suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private Beijing Layover to Mutianyu Great Wall & Forbidden City?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Beijing can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Beijing and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private Beijing Layover to Mutianyu Great Wall & Forbidden City start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Beijing within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Beijing?

    +

On Outty we rank every Beijing experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Mubus: Mutianyu Great Wall Bus Tour with Summer Palace Options, Beijing: Top 6 Highlights All Inclusive 2-Day Private Tour, Private Mutianyu Great Wall Trip With English-Speaking Driver. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Beijing?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Beijing?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
