Very good experience, great guide
The trip was short, but quite demanding. Our guide David was very helpful, picked us up from the airport directly to the great wall. He was quite adaptive when we needed some changes due to difficulty. He helped us, free of charge, to organize our next day in Beijing. In the evening he brought us directly to our hotel. Very good experience, highly recommend.

One of the greatest days of my life
My experience was unforgettable . Hiking on a remote portion of the wall with Tim was incredible. I felt like I was hiking with a friend. I learned so much about the history of the wall and felt like I truly experienced the culture.

Amazing experience, great guide
I had an incredible experience with Joe as my guide! He picked me up at the closet place cars were allowed by my hotel in the Qianmen Hutong area and gave me clear directions on where to meet. Communication was seamless. I spoke decent Chinese, Joe was fluent in both Chinese and English and we were able to switch back and forth as needed. We had great conversation the whole time, Joe also gave me great history lessons on the Great Wall which I really appreciated. The hike itself was more challenging than expected (I was sore the next day) but manageable. Joe made sure we skipped some section of the wall that was "sketchy" by going on maintained trails off to the side. The view was spectacular the whole time and Joe took lots of picture of me since I was traveling solo. We didn't see a soul until at the very end where we met up with a group of hikers who was going the reverse way. Afterwards we had lunch at the local village and it was delicious and authentic. Joe even helped me book some Beijing opera tickets after I broached the subject. Honestly I will be thinking about this trip for a long time and will be recommending it to my friends and Joe's a great guide to go with!

Absolutely brilliant!
We arranged this tour after reading the great reviews and we weren’t disappointed, it was fabulous! Everything from the initial communication with Joe was first class. We had to re-arrange our trip due to an unexpected illness and Joe was very understanding and helped us with everything. On the day, we met Tim, our guide, at our hotel and spent the whole day with him, he was an excellent guide and very nice person. His knowledge and experience were invaluable in making this trip the highlight of our 3 week-trip. We could not have asked for any more and we would highly recommend this to anyone who wants to explore the more remote (but spectacular) section of the Great Wall. Just be aware there are some steep ascents and descents so wear good footwear! Overall, an absolutely brilliant experience, thanks guys!

Jiankou to Heaven Ladder 5⭐️
Incredible day hiking Jiankou to Heaven Ladder. David went above and beyond by being knowledgable and accommodating whilst caring for my safety. He also suggested some restaurants and dishes to try (which were great!). Highly recommend

Why this scores 64
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private Beijing Great Wall Hiking Tour at Jiankou Section: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Beijing.
How much does Private Beijing Great Wall Hiking Tour at Jiankou Section cost?
+
Prices start at $191 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Beijing usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private Beijing Great Wall Hiking Tour at Jiankou Section take?
+
Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Beijing is not rushed.
Is Private Beijing Great Wall Hiking Tour at Jiankou Section worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 64 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 15 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Beijing, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private Beijing Great Wall Hiking Tour at Jiankou Section?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private Beijing Great Wall Hiking Tour at Jiankou Section suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private Beijing Great Wall Hiking Tour at Jiankou Section?
+
Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Beijing can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Beijing and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private Beijing Great Wall Hiking Tour at Jiankou Section start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Beijing within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Beijing?
+
On Outty we rank every Beijing experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Mubus: Mutianyu Great Wall Bus Tour with Summer Palace Options, Beijing: Top 6 Highlights All Inclusive 2-Day Private Tour, Private Mutianyu Great Wall Trip With English-Speaking Driver. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Beijing?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Beijing?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
