Spirituality is important to the Balinese and we often perform the purification process, known as “Melukat” to cleanse the body from bad energies. On this trip, I'll introduce you to this process & guide you through it so you can experience this unique aspect of Balinese culture as if you were a local. Derived from lukat, which means purify, Melukat aims to refine the mind inside human body from the bad elements. This ceremony is mostly held after bad things happened to someone, like they got sick, had been in an accident, or merely feel restless. Balinese do believe the power of water, which is a crucial element in Balinese ceremony either as a blessing or as cleansing our negative energy, After the tour We can also go to a local healer in my village (this is additionally charged - 40USD; includes offering for the healer and have to book before ). He will read your energy, Heal your body from bad elements, tell you about your life path& cleanse your aura with orange young coconut.

Authentic melukat cleaning ritual in waterfall in jungle temple

We can highly recommend doing the ceremony with Tunik. It was a very authentic experience and if you are looking for a mindful ritual this is the best way to do it. We went with Tunik to the temple in the jungle where we did the cleaning ceremony in the waterfall after starting with a short meditation. Tunik explained to us very well the whole process of the ritual and guided as very thoughtful trough it.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your kind words 🙏 I’m truly grateful that you joined the ceremony and had a meaningful experience. It makes me very happy to know that you felt connected to the ritual and enjoyed the process at the temple and the waterfall. Your openness and presence made the ceremony even more special. I wish you peace, balance, and blessings on your journey, and hopefully we can meet again in Bali 🌺 Warm regards, Tunik Pande

    Magical, mystical, spiritual & beautiful

We loved this experience so much. The driver picked us up from our hotel which was so convenient, and the car was very clean and comfortable. The driver kindly stopped so we could grab a lovely coffee and start our day well. The location of the waterfalls was beautiful and so spiritual. The driver was honestly the most wonderful person who generously shared his knowledge and wisdom, and taught us about the beautiful ceremony. The water was refreshing and the experience of being under the waterfall was magical. The views from the walk down and walk up was so pretty, it felt like we were in a movie - winding forests, beautiful greenery, charming stone steps. After, the driver took us to a temple and to a lovely place for lunch. We honestly loved this experience so much, it was one of the highlights of my trip.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your beautiful review! I’m so happy to hear that you enjoyed the entire experience from the comfortable ride and coffee stop, to the magical waterfalls and temple visit. It truly means a lot to know that this was one of the highlights of your trip. I’ll make sure to pass along your kind words to the driver, who will be delighted to hear them. It was such a pleasure to host you, and I hope to welcome you back to Bali again someday for more adventures.

    Beautiful experience of local culture

Everything worked great, from the pick up to the temples to the drive home. Booking was also good and straightforward. Dwiana was my guidebook and he was totally nice and accommodating, explained a lot and helped with everything that it will be a nice and positive experience. WhatsApp makes everyone super accessible if you have questions or problems. I really liked the process and it was good, it was a lot of fun and also very interesting to get to know this culture. The temples were also not overflowing, you felt very comfortable

Response from the operator: Vielen herzlichen Dank für Ihre wunderbare Bewertung!

Private Balinese Purification at Holy Water Temple with Local: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Ubud.

How much does Private Balinese Purification at Holy Water Temple with Local cost?

    +

Prices start at $30 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Ubud usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private Balinese Purification at Holy Water Temple with Local take?

    +

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Ubud is not rushed.

Is Private Balinese Purification at Holy Water Temple with Local worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 67 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 8 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Ubud, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private Balinese Purification at Holy Water Temple with Local?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private Balinese Purification at Holy Water Temple with Local suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private Balinese Purification at Holy Water Temple with Local?

    +

Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Ubud can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Ubud and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private Balinese Purification at Holy Water Temple with Local start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Ubud within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Ubud?

    +

On Outty we rank every Ubud experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Private 1-Day Ubud Highlights Tour, Mount Batur Jeep Adventure, Mount Batur Sunrise Trekking (Private Tour and Breakfast at Restaurant). The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Ubud?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Ubud?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
