3. Temple of Jupiter — the world's greatest Roman temple Enter the greatest Roman temple complex ever built — and prepare to be genuinely astonished. The Temple of Jupiter stands on Trilithon stones each weighing over 800 tonnes — the largest dressed stones ever used in construction in human history. Six of its original 54 columns still stand at 22 metres tall, each one a remarkable feat of ancient engineering. 6. Chateau Ksara

   Chateau Ksara — Roman caves & wonderful Lebanese wine End the day on a delightful and memorable note at Chateau Ksara — Lebanon's oldest winery, founded by Jesuit monks in 1857. The highlight of the visit is the extraordinary Roman cave cellar system stretching 2 kilometres beneath the winery — ancient tunnels where wine ages naturally at a constant temperature year-round. Walking through these fascinating ancient caves after a morning at Baalbek creates a wonderful and unexpected connection — two Roman worlds in the same valley, one above ground in stone and one quietly ageing underground. 7. Beirut
