About this experience
Your day will begin with a pickup by your English-speaking driver from your hotel in Athens. After a quick introduction, you will board your private car and begin your fully customizable ride through the geological phenomenon of Meteora. Our drivers are not licensed to accompany you into the sights but are very knowledgeable of the places visited and will share all the necessary historical information and their local perspective. Please note that men are required to wear long pants and women long skirts to enter the monasteries. Once you arrive in Kalambaka you will be taken to the very top of the towering cliffs, to visit the monasteries that are perched high up on the steep rocks of Meteora. Varlaam Monastery, Holy Trinity, Monastery of Agios Nikolaos Anapafsas and Megalo Meteoro are all built in the 16th Century and offer stunning views. At the end of your exploration, your driver will drive you safely back to Athens.

Absolutely worth the drive!
We weren’t sure if we wanted to do this trip because of the travel time to/from, but really glad we did. Meteora was really an unbelievable place. Our driver/guide was great and we were able to visit 4 of the 6 monasteries and have a nice early dinner in the nearby town. Great!

Amazing and fun tour
We booked private day tours to both Meteora and Delphi. On both trips we had Andreas as our driver. He was an amazing guide with a wealth of knowledge on both current and historical events. He also recommended what stops we need to do first to save time and be able to see more with the limited time we had. He made our long trips fun. He also gave us a tour of the coastline which was never mentioned in any of the trips. Thank you Andreas for a wonderful experience.

Do not recommend Easy Experiences tour
This company canceled one week prior to the scheduled date because they had no other travelers for this tour. I had extended my time in Greece specifically for the scheduled tour to Meteora with the battlefield & cave stops. I was able to book with another company at the last minute & had a great experience. However I had to book a tour traveling by train with no other stops.
Response from the operator: Hi there! Sorry to hear of your poor experience with Welcome. Please know that is far from the norm and we truly apologize for what happened. Why this scores 67
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private Athens to Meteora Clifftop Monasteries: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Athens.
How much does Private Athens to Meteora Clifftop Monasteries cost?
+
Prices start at $97 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Athens usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private Athens to Meteora Clifftop Monasteries take?
+
Plan for about 14 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Athens is not rushed.
Is Private Athens to Meteora Clifftop Monasteries worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 67 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.6/5 across 13 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Athens, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private Athens to Meteora Clifftop Monasteries?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private Athens to Meteora Clifftop Monasteries suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 14-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private Athens to Meteora Clifftop Monasteries?
+
Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Athens can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Athens and add a light layer if any part of the 14-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private Athens to Meteora Clifftop Monasteries start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Athens within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Athens?
+
On Outty we rank every Athens experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Athens Small Group E-Bike Tour, Small Group Greek Traditional Food Tour in Athens 20+ Tastings, Athens Scenic Bike Tour with Regular or Electric Bike + Acropolis. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Athens?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Athens?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
