What you get

    About this experience

Discover the breathtaking pieces of an architectural style that started to flourish towards the end of the 1900s, together with the insights of an art historian. In merely 20 years numerous masterpieces were constructed according to the various branches of the Secessionist Movement present in Europe. Viennese Secession, Jugendstil, French and Belgian Art Nouveau and for the first time, a real Hungarian “National Style” was also born. Among these beautiful edifices, we offer you the chance to explore Gresham Palace in and out, the Hungarian National Treasury, the Hungarian Academy of Music, various sites in the famous and historic Váci shopping street and much more gems too than you could ever find in a guidebook. Such a tour could begin at a previously arranged location, such as your hotel, or we recommend meeting at the former House of Hungarian Art Nouveau. A coffee break is also included in the tour at a marvellous Art Nouveau landmark.

Budapest's Art Nouveau Architecture: An Essential tour for those who love Art Nouveau and historic architecture

When my husband and I first saw Budapest back in 2025 on a river cruise, we knew we had to come back to explore that beautiful city more. In 2026 we returned for a week's stay, the highlight of which was a 4-hour private walking tour of Budapest's Art Nouveau Architecture. Suzy Szöke was our guide, and she showed us both the city's most iconic/well known Art Nouveau buildings as well as countless other breathtakingly stunning but lesser-known structures that we would have otherwise missed. In addition, she took us inside several structures, enabling us to see amazing Art Nouveau interiors featuring tile, stained glass and metal work that we would have never known existed. We ended the tour at my request at a bookstore, where I purchased a book (Jugenstil in Budapest) as a memento of our tour. The tour opened our eyes further to Budapest's architectural riches - and now I'd love to return again to this city of architectural treasures, to further explore...

Response from the operator: Dear Joyce, THANK YOU FOR YOUR WONDERFULly praising words. It really was my pleasure... Hoping truly that you will return and that I will have again the privilege to take you around! Love, Suzy

    Fabulous Art Nouveau Heritage tour

We had the most wonderful 4 hours in Szusanne’s company of CuriocityBudapest exploring the incredible Art Nouveau heritage of Pest. Szusanne has a doctorate in architecture with a particular passion for Art Nouveau buildings. Her knowledge was extraordinary. She managed to ‘smuggle’ us inside a few buildings not usually open to tourists which made our experience even more special. The strudel stop was much appreciated too! We spent the rest of our trip ‘looking up’. Highly recommend this experience which made our trip to Budapest even more special.

Response from the operator: Thank you for all your kind words it really was my pleasure to guide you! Wishing all the guides in the world such An insider audience. THANK YOU! Love, Suz

    A Wellspring of Information

Suzy is truly a wonder, and her knowledge of and passion for her country and city’s history is remarkable. She was well familiar with the Art Nouveau treasures in Budapest, and had or made access to several excellent places and vantage points I could never have managed on my own. Highest recommendation.

Response from the operator: :) Music to my ears that soemeone appreciates my extra efforts so much. It means it was more than worth it all that day to get up! Thank you for the review!!! Anytime next time to such audience🫶

Unbelievable architecture and history in Bidapest

Tour Guide, Szoke Zsuzsanna, was fabulous. Great knowlege, enthusiastic presentation and obvious passion for the subject. The history of both the architecture and the country were interwoven to make it a terrific learning experience and a fun tour.

Response from the operator: Dear Mark, Thank you for your very kind review :)

Private Art Nouveau Tour Budapest: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Budapest.

How much does Private Art Nouveau Tour Budapest cost?

    +

Prices start at $270 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Budapest usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private Art Nouveau Tour Budapest take?

    +

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Budapest is not rushed.

Is Private Art Nouveau Tour Budapest worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 62 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 23 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Budapest, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private Art Nouveau Tour Budapest?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private Art Nouveau Tour Budapest suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private Art Nouveau Tour Budapest?

    +

Around 8 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Budapest can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Budapest and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private Art Nouveau Tour Budapest start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Budapest within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Budapest?

    +

On Outty we rank every Budapest experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Budapest City Landmarks Walking Tour in 2 Hours, Countryside Half-day Gastro-Wine Tour from Budapest Meal & pickup, Budapest free walking tour: Parliament and Shoes Memorial. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Budapest?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Budapest?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
