Beautiful hike with beer as a reward
This was a great tour. It was a beautiful day, the hike was terrific. Rich was a lot of fun and very informative. We had a great lunch at the beer garden. I highly recommend the pretzels with cheese dip. The beer was excellent. We then hiked to a lake and enjoyed just sitting and looking at it (while drinking more beer). There were three of us, two elders past 65 and our son in his 20s. The hike was a little strenuous for me, a 68 year old woman, but we took our time and I did fine. A great time.
Response from the operator: It was a pleasure spending time with you and your family, Gail. You did great on the hike and think you never enjoyed a beer more than at the lake at the end! Now, you have me in the mood for the pretzel and cheese dip too.

Beer, Monestary, Hiking wow!
🌲 **Incredible Day of Hiking and Exploration!** 🌲 Today, we spent the day hiking through the woods with friends, and it was nothing short of amazing! The trail led us to a stunning monastery, steeped in history and fascinating stories. We enjoyed some refreshing beers, which added a fun twist to our adventure. Afterward, we made our way down to a beautiful lake that took our breath away. Our tour guide was outstanding, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. Spending the day with Rich and the rest of the group made it feel effortless and fun. Time flew by, and it truly was one of the best days of touring we’ve ever had! Can’t wait for our next adventure! 🥾💚
Response from the operator: Thanks for the super review and kind words, Kevin. It was a fun day out with you guys and enjoyed showing you the area. Hope to have you back one day, there's still so much to see and do in Bavaria.

Perfect Bavarian Beer & Hiking Experience
A bit overdue review, but was recently in Munich again and remember mer that this was hands-down one of the best experiences of our trip to Bavaria. The combination of hiking, incredible beer, authentic Bavarian food, stunning scenery, and local history made this far more than just a “tour” — it felt like spending the day with a knowledgeable friend who truly loves the region. The hike itself was beautiful and very manageable, winding through forests and countryside along the historic St. James Way before arriving at the spectacular Andechs Monastery. The views over the Bavarian landscape and toward the Alps were absolutely gorgeous. The monastery, church, and beer hall exceeded expectations, and the food was outstanding — hearty, authentic, and exactly what you hope for in Bavaria. What really made the experience special was our guide, Rich. He was fantastic — incredibly knowledgeable not only about Bavarian history and the local area, but especially about beer and brewing traditions. You could tell he genuinely loves the subject, and he explained everything in a way that was both informative and fun without ever feeling overly technical. We learned a ton about German beer culture, monastery brewing, styles of beer, and what makes Andechs so special. The pacing was perfect, and the private nature of the tour made everything feel customized and relaxed rather than rushed. The monk-brewed Andechs beer absolutely lived up to its reputation, and ending the day near Lake Ammersee was the perfect touch. If you enjoy beer, hiking, food, culture, or simply getting outside Munich for an authentic Bavarian experience, this is an absolute must-do. Easily a five-star experience and one of the highlights of our entire Germany trip. Prost! 🍺
Response from the operator: Thanks so much for the stellar review, Kurt. It my pleasure to not only show you some of Bavaria's best but also spend the day with you, as well. Hope to see you in Bavaria again one day. Bamberg and Franconia are calling.

This was our favorite tour on our trip to Munich! Rich was incredibly knowledgeable about Munich and surrounding areas and most of all Beer! We learned so much and the hike to Andechs was beautiful. If I could give it more than 5 stars I would. Highly recommend! Thank you Rich for the wonderful experience!
Response from the operator: Thanks for the super accolades, Mitzi. It was great sharing a fun day with you both and having the opportunity to show you some of the beautiful Bavarian countryside. I hope to show you more one day.

A great beer day in a beautiful setting!
Can't say enough great things about Rich and this tour. It was informative, scenic, and an overall perfect day learning about the monastery. Rich was attentive and engaging, answering any questions and leading us to all the good beer spots. A trip definitely worth your time!
Response from the operator: Thanks, Karen. It was a fun afternoon for me as well and happy you enjoyed the Bavarian countryside, history of the monastery and beer/food. Hope to show you more one day.

Why this scores 69
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private Andechs Monastery Brewery Hike from Munich: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Munich.
How much does Private Andechs Monastery Brewery Hike from Munich cost?
+
Prices start at $99 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Munich usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private Andechs Monastery Brewery Hike from Munich take?
+
Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Munich is not rushed.
Is Private Andechs Monastery Brewery Hike from Munich worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 69 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 45 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable food & drink in Munich, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private Andechs Monastery Brewery Hike from Munich?
+
No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.
Is Private Andechs Monastery Brewery Hike from Munich suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private Andechs Monastery Brewery Hike from Munich?
+
Around 16 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Munich can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Munich and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private Andechs Monastery Brewery Hike from Munich start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Munich within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Munich?
+
On Outty we rank every Munich experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Guided Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site Tour with Train from Munich, Munich Classic Bike Tour @ 11.30am with Surfers & beergarden stop, Dachau Memorial Half-Day Tour from Munich (Early-Start). The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Munich?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Munich?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
