    Incredible Experience

My friends and I found this whale shark tour through 'Inspired by Maps' travel blog, and we are SO happy we did. This tour is not only the best price we found, but we could not imagine a better experience. We were picked up from our airbnb in Tulum for a small extra charge that was communicated to us beforehand, since we were so far from the tour destination in Cancun. When we arrived there was a delicious breakfast and coffee provided after a long and early drive. Our boat driver Pablo took us and 2 other small groups of people on his boat way out past Isla Mujeres to see the whale sharks. I could not believe how many whale sharks there were! Maybe more than 50 in the area we went to. Pablo and our whale shark guide were friendly and professional. There were drinks, sandwiches, and ceviche provided after swimming. I honestly could not recommend this tour more! The whale sharks are incredible and I will remember this experience for the rest of my life. It is completely unfair that someone gave a 1 star review on Viator because they did not want to pay the legitimate fee for entering a protected wildlife area.

Response from the operator: We are really happy to hear this is a memorable experience for you. Hope to see you again soon!!

    Magical

This was one of the best experiences of my life! Swimming with the whale sharks was more magical and humbling than I could have ever imagined; truly one of the best experiences of my life. Our guide Raul was knowledgeable, fun and went above and beyond to make sure we had the best possible experience. Thank you Raul for this life changing experience!

Response from the operator: We are so glad you enjoyed this tour as much as we enjoyed assisting you. Making people´s experience unforgetable is the best reward.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE WILL NEVER USE THIS COMPANY EVER AGAIN!

We booked this trip and was told we would be picked up and droppe off to our hotel Azulik. Then we were told via Whatsapp to go to a Super Market 5:10 am in the morning. Not only did they NOT pick us up from the hotel they also dropped us back to the Supermarket after the tour was over. They picked up everyone from their hotel door to door service. I am unsure why my $150.00 was not good enough for pick up and drop off service as mentioned when we booked our trip. We had to pay for our own taxi both ways and we also tipped the driver and the guys on the boat. We got to the tour and rented the equipment after we paid for them and got on the boat they wanted additional $10 for TAXES! This whole trip felt like a scam. We swam with the Shark Whales for a maximum of maybe 15 minutes. I demand a refund for my taxi, the tip for the driver and the FAKE maritime fee.

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cancun.

How much does Private and Shared Whale Shark Tour from Tulum cost?

    +

Prices start at $280 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cancun usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private and Shared Whale Shark Tour from Tulum take?

    +

Plan for about 10 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cancun is not rushed.

Is Private and Shared Whale Shark Tour from Tulum worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 38 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.7/5 across 3 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Cancun, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private and Shared Whale Shark Tour from Tulum?

    +

Is Private and Shared Whale Shark Tour from Tulum suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 10-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private and Shared Whale Shark Tour from Tulum?

    +

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cancun can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cancun and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cancun within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Cancun?

    +

On Outty we rank every Cancun experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Early Access to Chichen Itza All Inclusive with Valladolid and Cenote Swim, Whale Shark Tour from Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Tulum and Riviera Maya, Small-Group 3 Hidden Cenotes Adventure with Tequila Tasting. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Cancun?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Cancun?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
