Be careful to confirm where your boat is taking you and from where
First, let me say that we have been to Italy many times and done many boat experiences. This was not an awful experience, but it was by far the worst of the 5 we have done in this area. Why? 1) We were in Naples rather than Sorrento this time. The description said boat trip from Naples. What was not clear was that it's a very long car ride to the point of embarkation (which is fine, but had we known that we would probably have taken the train to Sorrento and opted for a cheaper excursion--this one was about double what experiences from Sorrento cost). And there was some confusion at the end of whether we needed to then pay for the car to and from Sorrento. To his credit, Salvatore (who did keep in contact with us) covered the cost of that ride in the end. 2) The description says Amalfi Coast tour. We hate Capri. But guess what, that's where this boat took us, to Capri and only Capri. The captain did not speak English and we did not realize we were going to Capri until we were already halfway there and I asked the very young first mate about lunch. We were told we had to eat at a specific restaurant on Capri or pay exorbitant docking fees. (So no way to just grab a sandwich or something on shore). You know the type of place that was--very expensive with terrible tourist food. We were so, so disappointed. This was a private tour and we were clear about wanting to spend most of our time swimming and snorkeling. Instead, it was mostly spent on the boat and two of the places where they stopped for very short swimming had boats buzzing by. We have snorkeled Capri before at much nicer spots. And, we didn't even get taken through the arches. Literally, we felt like we paid for a boat ride and not a private tour geared toward our interests. 3) The boat itself was nice enough. It had a bathroom. It was a little tricky getting from the back to sit up on the front so if you have any balance or mobility issues, I would not recommend it. The crew provided some towels. The crew was nice enough, though language was a little bit of a barrier. And, the young man who was the voice of the tour tried hard, but it just turned out to neither be a tour (with a guide who can tell you with some expertise about the history or culture of the island) nor an experience (we were offered drop off at the Blue Grotto and some other places, but what we really wanted was to snorkel and that did not happen like it should have). 4) Snacks were brought out but not until we were on our way back. Had we known about those, we could have avoided the terrible restaurant on Capri. 5) There was good communication with Salvatore on the front end. When we contacted him from Capri, he did respond, but also said we should have confirmed with the crew that we were doing the Amalfi Coast rather than Capri. Given that the description said only Amalfi Coast tour with no mention of Capri, it seemed to me that there should be no need to confirm our destination. I'm not saying to not use this company or do this tour, but be certain to hash out in advance and before boarding exactly what you are getting. And I would most certainly book it for a Sorrento departure rather than Naples. Just take the train down. And if Capri is what you want, a much better way is to take the ferry/hydrofoil from Sorrento or even Naples and have a boat hired in Capri itself as that is much cheaper and in many ways easier. I would never have booked a tour to Capri. Amalfi Coast is something different altogether and the reviews for this company for that tour are spectacular. One last thing, Salvatore did really want to make things right. It's just that for us, this was a bit of a wasted day and an expensive one. We were lucky to have had almost a month in Italy and one day gone didn't matter that much. But there's also no way to replace a day.

Buyer Beware
Communication with Salvatore during online booking was good. In our written messages, we mutually agreed upon an itinerary that prioritized—most importantly— time for our family to walk the streets of Positano. On excursion day, the skipper was Marcello, whom we trusted to take us to Positano. However, he failed to do so and seemed unaware that the itinerary included time there. At no point—before or during the excursion—did we request any changes. Yet, we were not taken to Positano. Our incredible disappointment was dismissed when we sought an explanation. The lack of accountability for the failure to honor the agreed-upon itinerary only made matters worse. This failure negatively impacted our once-in-a-lifetime vacation. While the staff were friendly, they did not deliver the outing to Positano that we paid for and were promised. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this company.

Unforgettable day from Naples to Positano with Marco!
We had the most incredible day on our tour out of Naples! Our driver, Mario, picked us up right from our cruise ship and transferred us to a smaller port, where we met Marco and boarded his boat. From there, we cruised to beautiful Positano, where we had a couple of hours to explore. We enjoyed a delicious lunch at a charming little spot tucked into one of the narrow streets—amazing pizza! Marco was fantastic—so accommodating with our kids, happily playing all their favorite music and keeping the boat stocked with plenty of cold drinks. He was professional, friendly, and made the day truly unforgettable. On the way back, he even stopped so the kids could swim and snorkel, feeding the fish so they could see them up close. It was an absolute highlight of our trip, and I can’t recommend Marco and this tour enough!

Naples to Positano
Salvatore was very informative leading up to and after the trip. While he wasn’t able to do the trip with us, he did ensure that we had appropriate transportation scheduled to and from the marina as well as an experienced and friendly Skipper-Marcello. Marcello was very accommodating, made sure the day was exactly as we wished. He showed us some special swimming spots and shared interesting information about the coast and Italy in general. Very friendly!! Highly recommend!!

Why this scores 59
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private and exclusive tour of the beautiful Amalfi Coast!: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Naples.
How much does Private and exclusive tour of the beautiful Amalfi Coast! cost?
+
Prices start at $1990 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Naples usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private and exclusive tour of the beautiful Amalfi Coast! take?
+
Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Naples is not rushed.
Is Private and exclusive tour of the beautiful Amalfi Coast! worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 59 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 23 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Naples, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private and exclusive tour of the beautiful Amalfi Coast!?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private and exclusive tour of the beautiful Amalfi Coast! suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 6-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private and exclusive tour of the beautiful Amalfi Coast!?
+
Around 8 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Naples can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Naples and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private and exclusive tour of the beautiful Amalfi Coast! start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Naples within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Naples?
+
On Outty we rank every Naples experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Full Day Private Amalfi Coast Tour from Sorrento/Naples/Salerno, Caserta Royal Palace & Gardens Small Group Tour with Shuttle, Naples Pizza and Tiramisu Cooking Class. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Naples?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Naples?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
