Operator Pulled a Bait-and-Switch, Canceling the Booking and Telling Me to Message Outside TripAdvisor and Pay Cash

I booked this transfer via TripAdvisor, for what should have been a simple service: Have a driver waiting at the airport, pick me up, drive me to my hotel. When booking the service, it requires selecting a hotel pick-up on both ends - allowing the operator to claim it was improperly booked - - which is what they did. When I landed in Amman, I received a message saying my booking was refunded and to contact them when I arrived at the airport, so they could send a driver and have me pay in cash. The obvious assumption is that this allows the operator to avoid paying the commission to TripAdvisor/Viator, avoid paying a credit card processing fee, and capitalize on currency exchange rates - all by conducting the transaction, outside of the TripAdvisor/Viator platform, with a person known to be interested in the service (essentially, scamming TripAdvisor/Viator for a good lead on a new customer). The way the operator handled this forced me to either find a new source for a ride, or wait another 25 minutes for the operator’s driver to arrive (again, likely a way to maximize the use of limited drivers, by not dispatching them until the last possible moment - making customers wait, instead of having the drivers wait on the customers). When the driver arrived, he was nice enough, and I eventually made it to my hotel. Afterwards, the operator repeatedly messaged me, rather aggressively, trying to get me to book additional tours, and even hotel rooms through them (and outside of any websites like TripAdvisor/Viator that would provide any form of protection for the traveler). I would NOT recommend booking this transfer service, nor any other service/tour/experience offered by this operator.

Response from the operator: hello, dear sir are you sure you posted your review in the correct place we are registered company, each service we provide has an invoice, so please if you have an invoice from us or a receipt provide me with it. I'm very sorry for the bad experience you had in Jordan but I'm sure that you posted your review in the wrong business and as you can see all the reviews we have are 5 stars. so please check you operator name again!

    Average

I’m leaving a 3-star because according to TripAdvisor that means average. That is what it was; average. They picked us up about 20 minutes late from the airport. I was expecting to walk out of customs to see someone holding a sign with my name on it. Instead I had to call them and wait at Starbucks for 20 minutes. No big deal. I had an espresso while I waited. The driver was nice, helpful and smiled a lot. He drove sensibly and handled our luggage. 4 days later, we were picked up the hotel and taken to the airport. the driver was waiting for us in the lobby, nice. That was great. What we took exception to was the speed and nature of the driving. Fast and ALMOST reckless from our second driver; by my US standards. But, normal for Jordan from what I experienced. Lastly there was confusion about the fees. The TripAdvisor page says To/From. So, we expect our payment to cover “To/From.” They demanded an extra fee of $32 USD after taking us to the airport. Not cool. If it’s a one way reservation , than it shy say one-way.

Response from the operator: Hello, First thank you for your feedback, Second I will write for you today what our support team said to you when you contacted us : Let's take this from the beginning : First : when you book a transfer via our TripAdvisor platform you will see four options : Two cars options, and two van options. The two car options are : pick up from the airport, and drop off to the airport. You booked the pick up from the airport option. You provided us with the information and the flight number, and we always contact our customers in our 24/7 support service to double check the information to track the right flight, We tried to contact you twice and you didn't respond to us, and when you arrived to the airport you contacted us and we finished your paper work and started your trip in only 20 minutes as you mentioned, the paperwork usually take between 30 to 40 minutes and we always finish it before the flight arrives and we did it and started the trip in only 20 minutes! And according to your review the trip was great and the driver was professional! Second : you contacted us again asking for a drop off, when sent you a driver and all of our vehicles have a tracking system as I can see the maximum speed was 97 km per hour and the highway allows up to 120 km!! And the total cost for the second transfer was 32 usd, and you contacted the support team again saying that you booked two ways transfers, and after the team checked your booking ( pick up from the airport to Amman) told you that you booked only pick up from the airport, you haven't booked the drop off ( the second option in the bookings options) and you told the support team that you will contact TripAdvisor and what the team responded to you literally : sure, and you can take this transfer and not pay now, you can pay after checking with TripAdvisor, and you chose to pay cash! As a Conclusion, we would like to thank you again for your feedback, And if it was our fault please make sure that we would be able to fix it before you contact our support team, you booked a pick up from the airport and our team can't give you with it a free drop off without any offer.

    Easy airport transfer

I used Jordan Royal Road as my transfer from the airport to my hotel. I didn’t want to stress about figuring out transportation being a first time visitor to the country. I was delayed in transit and the company was easy about rescheduling the time. The driver was waiting for me when I arrived. The car was clean and the driving was safe. I recommend them for airport pickup.

Private Airport transfer service From / To QAIA.: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Amman.

How much does Private Airport transfer service From / To QAIA. cost?

    +

Prices start at $55 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Amman usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private Airport transfer service From / To QAIA. take?

    +

Plan for about 0.3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Amman is not rushed.

Is Private Airport transfer service From / To QAIA. worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 57 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.6/5 across 15 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Amman, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private Airport transfer service From / To QAIA.?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private Airport transfer service From / To QAIA. suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 0.3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private Airport transfer service From / To QAIA.?

    +

Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Amman can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Amman and add a light layer if any part of the 0.3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private Airport transfer service From / To QAIA. start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Amman within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Amman?

    +

On Outty we rank every Amman experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include From Amman: Petra and Wadi rum Private/Group Full day Tour, Discover Trax Jo Playground and Traffic Park Fun, From Amman :Private or Group Full day tour to Petra. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Amman?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Amman?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
