    Two Extraordinary Tour Guides!!!!!!

We had an absolutely exceptional Castle and Food Tour with Kumiko and Kaori yesterday!!! They picked us up at out hotel and from the moment we started we instantly connected. Very fun, very personable. Kaori lived in Arizona for a time, Kumiko has a son who lived in the US for years and she has been many times. They were very easy to chat with and ask questions. Very casual and not buttoned up like we have experienced a lot in Japan. Not only did we learn a lot and do everything the tour said… learn some history, eat extraordinary food etc., which we expected…. The unexpected things came in when at the deliiiiiiicious sushi place, we casually asked Kaori how she made her pretty chopstick stand out of chopstick paper, not only did she do that, she also made a teeny paper crane for me (it’s my birthday) also out of the tiny square of chopstick paper. 🥹 That was the first time my friend and I teared up. The second time was when I asked Kumiko where we could go to buy a good japanese chef’s knife. She took us to a very reasonably-priced shop that not only had beautiful knives, but also engrave your name on it!!! Kumiko and Kaori went through all of the ways “Catherine” can look (and mean) in Kanji, and they picked characters for my name that meant “blooming in all its splendor, standing poised with inner strength”. I had those characters etched on the knife and it will have a profound impact on me everything I pick up that knife every day. I will think of these two extraordinary women, and the memorable time my husband and our friends shared with them. If I could give more stars than five, I would. We exchanged information and when we are back to Japan or we hear of friends making trips, we intend to recommend them highly. Thank you both for an extraordinary day. We will NEVER forget you!! ❤️❤️

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your incredibly heartfelt review. Your kind words truly touched both Kaori and me. We had such a wonderful time with you, your husband, and your friends. The origami crane, the personalized knife, and choosing the special kanji for your name were unforgettable moments for us as well. We hope the knife will always remind you of your wonderful time in Osaka and of your own radiance and inner strength. Thank you for such a special and memorable day. We will never forget you either and sincerely hope to see you again in Japan someday! With love and gratitude,

    Best guides ever!

Kumiko and Kaori were outstanding hosts and guides. Punctual, knowledgeable, enthusiastic, energetic, and most all galactically pleasant! The tour was tailored to our specific interests and was efficient and fun. We had four adults and one 12 year-old in our group, and they did a great job accommodating everyone's questions and needs. The best part for us was getting to know these two amazing women and hearing about their families and interests. There aren't enough stars to give these two.

Response from the operator: Thank you very much for your wonderful review! Kaori and I truly enjoyed spending the day with your lovely group. It was a pleasure to customize the tour around everyone’s interests and to share Osaka’s history, culture, and food with you. We especially enjoyed getting to know each of you and sharing stories about our families and lives in Japan. Thank you again for such a joyful and memorable day. We hope to welcome you back to Japan in the future!

Amazing food and Osaka Castle tour with Kumiko

Kumiko and Kaori were the best tour guides you can ask for. We spent an entire day touring Osaka from Osaka Castle to the food vendors downtown. They thought of everything including frozen towels in the 34 C heat. We had our food prepared on the street or at specific vendors. The sushi and sashimi were beyond spectacular. I would never have had this much fun without our guides. They helped us with shopping for cutlery and yukata which was an amazing bonus. Thank you Kumiko and Kaori.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your kind review! Despite the 34°C heat, Kaori and I had a wonderful time exploring Osaka with your group. We are very happy that you enjoyed Osaka Castle, the street food, sushi, sashimi, and shopping for cutlery and yukata. It was truly our pleasure to help make your day comfortable and enjoyable. Thank you for the fun and unforgettable day. We hope your purchases will always bring back happy memories of Osaka!

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
