What you'll see and do

  1. Alcazar de Jerez de la Frontera

Of defensive origin, it is one of the few Almohad architectural constructions that have been preserved on the Iberian Peninsula, hence its importance. From the outside you can see what remains of the Octagonal, Almohad and Ponce de León towers and, once inside, you can enjoy the City Gate, the mosque or the Arab baths, as well as its gardens and courtyards. Visit from the outside.

  2. Catedral de Jerez

A colossal construction with five naves built on the remains of the old main mosque. Also known as the cathedral of San Salvador, it harmoniously combines Gothic, Neoclassical and Baroque elements, such as its imposing main façade, its great dome or the bell tower - independent of the main building and in the style of a minaret - and the bell tower, which has been built in the style of a minaret. The visit will be from the outside.

  3. Plaza del Arenal

The perfect place to sit down for a drink on one of its terraces. Originally an Andalusian "musara", this square has also been the scene of duels and battles. Nowadays, this rectangular space houses a statue on horseback of Miguel Primo de Rivera, a native of Jerez, in its centre, and on one of its sides, the Alhóndiga building with its striking gallery of semicircular arches, home to one of the city centre's tourist offices.

  4. Convento de Santo Domingo

A 13th century construction in which Mudejar, Gothic and Renaissance elements once again coexist and where the first Catholic mass was celebrated after the Reconquest. Don't miss the Gothic-style cloisters annexed to the church, nor the chapels of Consolación and Virgen del Rosario de los Montañeses, the main altarpiece and the sacristy inside. If you leave the convent behind, next to the statue in honour of the Domecq house, you have the no less well-known park or square of Mamelón, which is shaped around an elongated pond. The visit will be from the outside.

+

How far in advance should I book Private 6 hours Tour of Cadiz and Jerez de la Frontera from Cadiz?

+

Around 0 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cádiz can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cádiz and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

+

What are the best things to do in Cádiz?

+

On Outty we rank every Cádiz experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Walking Tour through Cádiz: Stories from the hand of a local guide, Cadiz Food Tour: Tapas, Drinks and Delights with a Local, Tour of Cadiz : Journey to the Past through Historical Images. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Cádiz?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Cádiz?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
