Absolute Best Tour
This is the absolute best option a person could choose. We were first to arrive and had the place to ourselves, and that made a difference because it was a Saturday and as we departed a few dozen people arrived. But more than just that, this tour gets you exclusive access to a hidden, practically secret, lagoon. And en route got to see a ton of wildlife, despite the extreme elevation!

Spectacular
Excellent experience!! Very good guide Abdon

Excellent guide
I took a walk with Abdul and it was just great. He is extremely professional, punctual and very attentive throughout the course. Demonstrates a lot of knowledge of the place, explains everything clearly and still genuinely cares about the safety and well-being of the group. The tour was well organized, at the right time and with an experience far above expectation.

Absolutely Amazing
The tour was magical. Abdon was really accommodating, knew all the shortcuts and secret ways and we had an amazing day. We were the only ones there, in both places, and when we arrived at the Esmeralda lagoon, I thought it could not get better. But then we hiked till the Huayna Potosi lakes and the scenery was straight out of a LOTR movie. We continued even further till the glacier itself. Definitely suggest to everyone.

Hidden Trails, Glaciers, and Pure Magic
Abdon was an outstanding guide! We were lucky to arrive first at a hike that is usually very popular, so the whole place felt absolutely magical. Just after Charcani —already stunning on its own— he took us through a “secret highway” to a hidden trail that was simply mind-blowing. I won’t share too many details because it’s so remote that I don’t want to spoil the experience for future travelers. But if you’re looking for a long yet moderate hike, surrounded only by animals, glaciers, and pure silence — contact Abdon! He is incredibly accommodating, flexible, and knowledgeable. On top of that, he’s very polite, respectful, and truly makes you feel cared for every step of the way.

The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private 4x4: Huayna Potosí Glacier & Lagoons trek (West side): questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for La Paz.
How much does Private 4x4: Huayna Potosí Glacier & Lagoons trek (West side) cost?
+
Prices start at $199 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in La Paz usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private 4x4: Huayna Potosí Glacier & Lagoons trek (West side) take?
+
Plan for about 10 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in La Paz is not rushed.
Is Private 4x4: Huayna Potosí Glacier & Lagoons trek (West side) worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 56 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in La Paz, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private 4x4: Huayna Potosí Glacier & Lagoons trek (West side)?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private 4x4: Huayna Potosí Glacier & Lagoons trek (West side) suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 16. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 10-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Private 4x4: Huayna Potosí Glacier & Lagoons trek (West side)?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in La Paz can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in La Paz and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private 4x4: Huayna Potosí Glacier & Lagoons trek (West side) start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central La Paz within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in La Paz?
+
On Outty we rank every La Paz experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Death Road, Bolivia: Mountain Bike Tour on the World's Most Dangerous Road, The World's Most Dangerous Road - Barracuda Biking's Death Road Riding, Death Road Biking Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit La Paz?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in La Paz?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
