About this experience
Escape the crowds and uncover Prague’s best hidden gem — the "High Castle" Vyšehrad, a historic hilltop fortress filled with legends, stunning views, and over 1000 years of Czech history. Just a 10-minute tram ride from the city center, this peaceful site was once a royal seat and later a mighty baroque fort. Today, it’s a symbolic and mysterious place beloved by locals. On this 2.5-hour small-group tour, guided by a passionate local expert, you’ll visit the breathtaking Basilica of St. Peter and St. Paul, the 11th-century Rotunda of St. Martin, the Czech National Cemetery, and the mythical Devil’s Column. Learn about Princess Libuše and her prophecy of Prague: “I see a great city whose glory will one day touch the stars.” Take in panoramic views of the Vltava River and New Town, and enjoy a relaxing break at a local café or beer garden — your coffee, wine, beer or soft drink is included. A perfect afternoon for curious travelers seeking real stories beyond the tourist trail.

Hidden jem
The tour was truly a hidden gem. Not big crowds. And the views were fantastic. Josef 10 was our guide. He was so knowledgeable and shared in an interesting way. Learned so much. He was polite and friendly. We also got to take the local tram something we try to do in very town we go to. He had so much to tell us the tour went long by 20 minutes. Well worth the money

Excellent & informative tour, great guide
We did this tour with Josef10 today having landed this morning. Josef is a warm, friendly, passionate & very knowledgeable guide. This was a great introduction to Prague & I absolutely recommend both this tour & Josef.

Very knowledgeable tour of Vysehard Castle and its history
Joseif hosted our tour and he was excellent. In addition to his welcoming and friendly manner, he was very knowledgeable and provided a great historic detail with a very nice personal touch. His passion was infectious and I would highly recommend him to people wanting a very good understanding of Prague and Vysehard Castle and its rich history.

I had no idea.
Imagine a basilica decorated by two contemporaries of Mucha. Some frescos that could be by Klimt. Imagine the Prague version of Pere Lachaise Cemetery. Dvorak, Capek, more. Something you should see, but too many don’t. A knowledgeable guide who will show you parts of Prague too often skipped. This is an excellent tour of a fascinating part of Prague. I highly recommend it.

Worth it to get out of the city centre for an afternoon!
My husband and I had the pleasure of meeting our tour guide, Erik, who showed us Vysehrad Castle and the surrounding historic fort. It was beautiful! We highly enjoyed getting out of the busy city centre to see more of what makes Prague a wonderful city. It was delightful way to spend an afternoon! Thank you Erik!

Why this scores 77
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Prague Hidden Gem Vysehrad Castle & Historic Fort with PragueWay: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Prague.
How much does Prague Hidden Gem Vysehrad Castle & Historic Fort with PragueWay cost?
+
Prices start at $32 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Prague usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Prague Hidden Gem Vysehrad Castle & Historic Fort with PragueWay take?
+
Plan for about 2.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Prague is not rushed.
Is Prague Hidden Gem Vysehrad Castle & Historic Fort with PragueWay worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 77 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 44 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Prague, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Prague Hidden Gem Vysehrad Castle & Historic Fort with PragueWay?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Prague Hidden Gem Vysehrad Castle & Historic Fort with PragueWay suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Prague Hidden Gem Vysehrad Castle & Historic Fort with PragueWay?
+
Around 15 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Prague can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Prague and add a light layer if any part of the 2.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Prague Hidden Gem Vysehrad Castle & Historic Fort with PragueWay start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Prague within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Prague?
+
On Outty we rank every Prague experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Best Reviews: Bohemian & Saxon Switzerland Day Trip From Prague, Bohemian & Saxon Switzerland From Prague-Travelers' Choice 2026, 3-hour Complete Prague Bike Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Prague?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Prague?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
