  2. Archaeological Park of Pompeii

Pompeii was an ancient Roman city near modern-day Naples, Italy, famously preserved by the catastrophic eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. The eruption buried Pompeii under a thick layer of volcanic ash, which effectively “froze” the city in time. As a result, Pompeii offers a remarkable snapshot of Roman life, with houses, shops, baths, temples, and theaters all preserved in exquisite detail. Archaeological excavations have uncovered well-preserved frescoes, mosaics, and everyday objects, offering insights into the daily life, culture, and social structure of its inhabitants. Visitors can wander the streets of Pompeii and explore buildings such as the amphitheater, the Forum, and the Villa of the Mysteries, gaining a unique glimpse into the past.

  4. Vesuvius National Park

Mount Vesuvius is an active volcano located near Naples, famous for its eruption in 79 AD that destroyed and buried the Roman cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum. This stratovolcano, characterized by its conical and steep shape, has formed through numerous eruptions over the millennia. The eruption of 79 AD is remembered as one of the most devastating in history, with the cities buried under layers of ash and lapilli, which preserved them almost intact until their rediscovery. Today, Vesuvius is considered one of the most dangerous volcanoes in the world, both for its capacity for explosive eruptions and for the high population density that lives in its vicinity. For this reason, the volcano is constantly monitored for any signs of activity. Vesuvius represents a constant threat and a powerful symbol of the uncontrollable force of nature.

Naples: Pompeii, Mt.Vesuvius, and Wine Tasting – Private tour

We did the Naples: Pompeii, Mt.Vesuvius, and Wine Tasting – Private tour This tour was run by CiaoNaples. It was well organized and planned out. We had originally booked a shared car, but they were unable to fill the other half of the vehicle. Davide from CiaoNaples reached out directly to me and we were able to make a new reservation for our group with a private car. The driver Paolo was very friendly. I had one family member who spoke no English and Paolo was able to speak to him in Italian which was great. Paolo spoke perfect English with the rest of us. For Pompeii, it was on the first of the month. This means that it is free for everyone so Pompeii was packed. Paulo arrived with us and the front entrance was packed. Would have waited 2 hours at least. He spun us around to the back entrance and we were inside in less than 30 min. After that we were taken to a beautiful winery that overlooks my Vesuvius and the plant of Naples. Food, wine, and hospitality were great! Then Paolo took us to Mt Vesuvius. Davide showed up with tickets and took us right to front of the line. He made sure we were able to get in and up we went. Cool tour. When we came back down and everyone was waiting for their buses. Paulo pulled right up and we hopped in the SUV and were out of there. Right back to the ship. Would 100% recommend CiaoNaples for your Naples excursions. Well done!

Response from the operator: Hi Steve, Thank you so much for your wonderful review and for taking the time to share your experience with us. We are really happy to hear that you and your family enjoyed the tour with us. It was a pleasure to help organize the private experience for your group, and I’m very glad everything worked out smoothly in the end. Paolo will be very happy to read your kind words as well. He always does his best to make guests feel comfortable and relaxed during the day, so knowing that your family appreciated both his English and Italian means a lot to us. We also know how busy Pompeii can become on free entrance days, so we are happy we could help you avoid the long wait and make the most of your time. The winery and Mount Vesuvius are two very special experiences, and we’re glad you enjoyed both. Thank you again for trusting CiaoNaples during your stop in Naples. It truly means a lot to us. We hope to welcome you and your family back to Italy again in the future! Warm regards, Davide & the CiaoNaples Team

Pompeii Ruins and Vesuvius Full-Day Tour from Naples: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Naples.

How much does Pompeii Ruins and Vesuvius Full-Day Tour from Naples cost?

+

Prices start at $200 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Naples usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Pompeii Ruins and Vesuvius Full-Day Tour from Naples take?

+

Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Naples is not rushed.

Is Pompeii Ruins and Vesuvius Full-Day Tour from Naples worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 56 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 2 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Naples, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Pompeii Ruins and Vesuvius Full-Day Tour from Naples?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Pompeii Ruins and Vesuvius Full-Day Tour from Naples suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 16. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 5-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Pompeii Ruins and Vesuvius Full-Day Tour from Naples?

+

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Naples can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Naples and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Pompeii Ruins and Vesuvius Full-Day Tour from Naples start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Naples within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Naples?

+

On Outty we rank every Naples experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Full Day Private Amalfi Coast Tour from Sorrento/Naples/Salerno, Caserta Royal Palace & Gardens Small Group Tour with Shuttle, Naples Pizza and Tiramisu Cooking Class. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Naples?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Naples?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
