Understanding the...
Understanding the significance of these two sites is so much more interesting than wandering around. With a guide, and we had an excellent guide, you can talk about the sites, the history and the guide highlights the more significant sites, and just some fun asides.

A wonderful private tour!!!
One of the best tours we have ever taken. Picked up by our driver, Gio in a nice Mercedes van and taken out to Pompeii to meet our tour guide Vincenzo. Gio gave us an informative tour of Naples. Vincenzo was absolutley fabulous. He has a PhD in Art History along with education on Archeology. He quickly got us on to the site and gave us a tremendous tour. We talked about the events and what happened that day along with gaining an understanding of the city and its history. He kept us informed and interested throughout our walk around the site. We then moved over to Herculaneum and learned how that site is so much different from the Pompeii site. Again, tremendous information and knowledge. The day flew by!!! After the two tours were taken by Gio to the Cantina de Vesuvius for a wonderful lunch and wine tasting. I know it is a little pricey, but watching the large groups move around the standard locations at the site made it all the more worth it as we moved down alleys and side streets to see the site. A great visit!!!

Excellent tour for people on cruise ships!!
Great tour for people with limited time. We were picked up at the cruise port by our driver, Alfonso. He was extremely friendly and helpful. He talked to us about Naples history and their food on the way to Herculaneum. We then met our guide, Carmine, who is an archeologist. He provided an excellent tour of Herculaneum and Pompeii. He is so knowledgeable! He also helped us with tickets into Pompeii when the policy for entrance changed that day. After our tours, Alfonso organized an incredible lunch for us. I was able to make the pizza we ate. The restaurant owner then brought out gnocchi, pasta and lemon cake. All delicious! Alfonso then took us back to our ship with plenty of time to board. Definitely recommend this tour!

Excellent guide and driver!
Our driver, Chido, was excellent! On time, luxury car, very pleasant energy. Our tour guide, Enzo, was enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the history of Pompeii and Herculaneum! He even kept the interest of my husband who reluctantly entertains my fascination of history. I highly recommend this private tour of Pompeii and Herculaneum because the crowds are insane!

Why this scores 70
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Pompeii & Herculaneum Private Tour: Fast-Track, Winery & Lunch: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Naples.
How much does Pompeii & Herculaneum Private Tour: Fast-Track, Winery & Lunch cost?
+
Prices start at $162 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Naples usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Pompeii & Herculaneum Private Tour: Fast-Track, Winery & Lunch take?
+
Plan for about 7 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Naples is not rushed.
Is Pompeii & Herculaneum Private Tour: Fast-Track, Winery & Lunch worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 70 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 24 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Naples, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Pompeii & Herculaneum Private Tour: Fast-Track, Winery & Lunch?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Pompeii & Herculaneum Private Tour: Fast-Track, Winery & Lunch suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 7-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Pompeii & Herculaneum Private Tour: Fast-Track, Winery & Lunch?
+
Around 8 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Naples can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Naples and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Pompeii & Herculaneum Private Tour: Fast-Track, Winery & Lunch start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Naples within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Naples?
+
On Outty we rank every Naples experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Full Day Private Amalfi Coast Tour from Sorrento/Naples/Salerno, Caserta Royal Palace & Gardens Small Group Tour with Shuttle, Naples Pizza and Tiramisu Cooking Class. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Naples?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Naples?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
