Beautiful day on the Amalfi coast

Antonio was a wonderful guide for our trip down Amalfi coast. He was able to avoid the heaviest areas of traffic so we saw more than expected. He also arranged a beautiful and delicious lunch (all of us agreed our favorite meal in Italy this far) and made sure we had time for a quick trip to Pompeii. Great family memories!

Response from the operator: Thank you very much for taking the time to write such a complimentary review about our services. We are glad to know that you enjoyed your time in Italy with us and we hope to see you again in Italy soon. Best Regards,

    Not worth the money

The driver was a very nice person and drove safely. For $600+ for two people, I expected more. We reserved for 7am but received a last minute note the night before saying the driver would arrive at 9am. While I expressed disappointment over this, I agreed to make the adjustment to our schedule. However, at 7:51 the driver texted and while we would have appreciated to leave earlier originally, we made plans to wake up later and have an extended dinner the night before. Because of the unexpected early arrival, we did not have time to eat breakfast before leaving the hotel. I do not blame the driver as I believe he was misinformed by his management so we carried on, although slightly frustrated and hungry for the first hours of our trip. As stated, the driver was very nice and did a good job with the road, although he did get into a minor collision with another driver while we were in the car. Luckily, it did not cause delay on the trip and everyone was OK. Almost all shops and restaurants were closed in Positano when we arrived and so while it was beautiful, there was no shopping to be had and only one option to grab food. We also had to walk significant down and back up hills as the driver could not (or would not, unsure which) drive the vehicle closer to the bottom of the city where he recommended we go. Our second stop was Amalfi which thankfully had many more shops and food places open, but with only an hour for stopping here you had to make a choice: food or shopping. The last stop was Pompeii and unfortunately there was no offer for help to secure a tour guide and with only 2 hours, it was definitely impossible to get through anywhere close to the good view of the ruins. We had to be very hurried and didn’t know much about where to go or what to do so we winged it. Again, I want to emphasize the driver was very nice, but there was no help for recommendations for food to eat when we did stop, and with so little time, we forfeited eating most of the day in order to stick to a tight schedule. He was very kind and unexpectedly gave us a large water bottle to share after Pompeii that was very refreshing. Overall, I think you are better off to rent a car and do this drive yourself.

Response from the operator: Dear valued customer, We always double check with our guests the day before with a text message and being a private tour we have given you options to start at any time including 7am, in the same text message we also offered to arrange a tour guide for Pompeii on your behalf. thank you for taking time to write such nice review wishing you and your family health and prosperity

    Made Our Trip!!!

Our day trip with Amalfi Coast Day Tours was absolutely phenomenal! We had a seamless pickup from our hotel and were driven around Amalfi, Pompeii and Positano by the lovely Carmine. He gave us great historical facts throughout the drive and was great to just chat with! We also got a private tour of Pompeii by a native, who spoke so passionately about the historical landmark it made us jealous we weren't from there as well. Grace's passion and love for Pompeii was one of the highlights for us! Do not hesitate in using this company for any of your tours!

Response from the operator: thank you very much , all the team thank you for placing your trust in us and we look forward to see you again. Luca & team

Great way to see it all

The drive was the most amazing part of this - the winding road with incredible views as far as the eye can see. Also it makes the Amalfi coast accessible. We were able to visit (briefly) Positano, Amalfi and Ravello and see what they each have to offer. Our driver customized our trip for us, so that we spent more time in those places and just about an hour in Pompei. He was incredibly friendly and shared interesting history about each area.

Response from the operator: Grazie and thank you for coming, I’m very happy to hear that , it makes me feel special. see you soon and take care. Rosy and team

    Highly recommended day-trip

It was a truly memorable experience. Our guide Carmine was well organized, knowledgeable, entertaining and super flexible. He made extra stops whenever we wanted and gave us as much time as we wanted to explore the Amalfi coast. For Pompeii, they organized us a private guide (get Grace if you can!) for a very insightful two-hour-tour through the impressive ancient ruins. And pick-up and drop-off in Naples worked perfectly as well. Plus, we were lucky with the weather, considering it was mid-November. It is a great time though to avoid the massive crowds of high season. A highly recommended day-trip.

Pompeii Amalfi Coast Drive: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Naples.

How much does Pompeii Amalfi Coast Drive cost?

    +

Prices start at $89 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Naples usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Pompeii Amalfi Coast Drive take?

    +

Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Naples is not rushed.

Is Pompeii Amalfi Coast Drive worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 75 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 27 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Naples, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Pompeii Amalfi Coast Drive?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Pompeii Amalfi Coast Drive suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Pompeii Amalfi Coast Drive?

    +

Around 9 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Naples can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Naples and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Pompeii Amalfi Coast Drive start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Naples within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Naples?

    +

On Outty we rank every Naples experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Full Day Private Amalfi Coast Tour from Sorrento/Naples/Salerno, Caserta Royal Palace & Gardens Small Group Tour with Shuttle, Naples Pizza and Tiramisu Cooking Class. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Naples?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Naples?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
