Panathenaic Stadium
A monument that seamlessly merges ancient with contemporary history, Panathenaic stadium is only a short drive from the Acropolis. Originally a racecourse of the 6th century BC, it hosted the Panathenaic Games (whole Athens Games), a religious and athletic festival in honor of the goddess Athena, to which its name is attributed. In the 4th century BC, the Athenian statesman built an 850 foot (250m) long stadium, with tiers of stone benches arranged around the track. Panathenaic Stadium is widely known for the rebirth of the Modern Olympic Games, which were hosted in 1896 at its premises. On 6 April (25 March according to the Julian calendar then in use in Greece), the Games of the First Olympiad were officially opened; attended by 80,000 spectators. We will have a short stop option. Your driver will be waiting for you while you step on the track, walk through the marble seats and take pictures of the marble royal thrones, reliving the history of the Stadium.

Plateia Syntagmatos
Syntagma square is the central square of Athens. The square is named after the Constitution (Syntagma) that Otto, the first King of Greece, was obliged to grant after a popular and military uprising on 3 September 1843. It is located in front of the 19th-century Old Royal Palace, housing the Greek Parliament since 1934. During our passing by, we may have the option for a photograph stop, should we coincide with the change of the presidential guard (the traditional "Tsoliades"), that takes place in front of the parliament. We will also pass by, in the comfort of our LIM Transport vehicles, the old parliament and the neoclassical architecture buildings of the University, the National Library and the Academy. Your tour guide, should you chose the guided tour option, will also share with you the stories of the turbulent recent financial crisis years, during which the Syntagma Square was the place for daily public assemblies and demonstrations.

Best choice for a short visit
My family from Vienna VA was visiting on a cruise stop to Piraeus. Their stopover was just a few hours and the decision on what would make the most of their visit was not an easy one. We did together the Piraeus to Athens city tour and it was an exceptional choice. Our minibus picked us up from the cruise terminal at the port and drove us to the city center. Our driver was a local guide with a deep knowledge of the history of Athens and totally passionate about the city. We visited the Acropolis, the museum and had a comprehensive tour of the city. Our driver was kind enough to take us to all landmarks and gave us enough time to visit them, in just a few hours. My family liked it so much that they are planning to come back for more days next summer.
Response from the operator: Dear NikolettaS, thank you so much for your kind words. It was our pleasure to be of service to you and your family. We hope to be able to host you again soon.

Why this scores 53
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Piraeus to Athens Private City Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Athens.
How much does Piraeus to Athens Private City Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $340 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Athens usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Piraeus to Athens Private City Tour take?
+
Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Athens is not rushed.
Is Piraeus to Athens Private City Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 53 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 2 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Athens, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Piraeus to Athens Private City Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Piraeus to Athens Private City Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Piraeus to Athens Private City Tour?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Athens can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Athens and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Piraeus to Athens Private City Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Athens within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Athens?
+
On Outty we rank every Athens experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Athens Small Group E-Bike Tour, Small Group Greek Traditional Food Tour in Athens 20+ Tastings, Athens Scenic Bike Tour with Regular or Electric Bike + Acropolis. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Athens?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Athens?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
