    What you'll see and do

    1. Salt Lake City

Your journey begins in Salt Lake City, where Utah’s rich history meets its breathtaking natural beauty. As you leave the city behind, the landscape transforms — towering mountains frame the horizon, vast valleys stretch into the distance, and the shimmering Great Salt Lake begins to reveal its mysterious pink hues. This captivating route unfolds as a true Great Salt Lake Odyssey, guiding you through places where history, geology, and art merge into a landscape so surreal it feels almost otherworldly.

      Pass by without stopping

    2. Our first stop will be the remarkable “Stinky Springs.” Imagine this: mineral-rich water bubbling up from the earth, interacting for millions of years with sulfur compounds deep beneath Utah’s crust. That distinct aroma? It’s the result of fascinating geothermal processes unfolding underground. What truly captivates here is the water’s incredible color — a vivid emerald-green hue shimmering in the sunlight, revealing layers of mineral deposits and creating a mesmerizing natural palette found nowhere else.

      20 minutes here

    3. Golden Spike National Historical Park

Next, we’ll step back in time at Golden Spike National Historical Park — a powerful symbol of innovation and the dawn of a new era. Here in 1869, a single golden spike united East and West, marking the completion of America’s first transcontinental railroad. You’ll stand where iron rails, wooden ties, and the thunder of early steam locomotives forever changed the course of the nation’s history.

40 minutes here · Admission included

    4. The pinnacle of your journey is the exploration of the remote and enigmatic Rozel Point Peninsula on the shores of the Great Salt Lake — a place that feels like another planet. To help you comfortably explore this ancient ecosystem, we’ll provide special rubber footwear that easily slips over your shoes. It allows you to stroll along a shoreline encrusted with brilliant white salt crystals glistening in the sunlight and even wade knee-deep into the lake’s otherworldly pink waters — a surreal, impossibly photogenic landscape. Here, beneath the open sky, you’ll touch rare gypsum crystals — identical to those discovered by NASA on Mars — and see Utah’s oldest natural crude oil seep, a captivating reminder of the region’s geological past.

      120 minutes here

    5. Spiral Jetty

Your journey concludes with a visit to the legendary Spiral Jetty — a masterpiece by American artist Robert Smithson, created in 1970. Stretching over 1,500 feet (457 m) long and 15 feet (4.5 m) wide, this monumental land art installation, built from black basalt rocks and salt, stands as a timeless symbol of the harmony between art and nature. Considered one of the largest and most iconic earthworks of its kind, Spiral Jetty represents the spirit of artistic exploration and connection to the landscape that defined an entire movement in environmental art. What makes Spiral Jetty truly mesmerizing is its ever-changing form. Depending on the lake’s water level, the spiral may lie fully submerged, rise above the surface, or glisten with pink salt crystals under the Utah sun. It’s an unmissable stop for unforgettable photographs — and a rare opportunity to stand before one of America’s most extraordinary artistic landmarks.

    Absolutely worth it!

Such an amazing trip and experience. Dima is a cool tour guide, very humorous and willing to answer any questions you have. Stinky springs was exceptionally stinky (sulfur). Golden Spike was very cool. Loved the trains. But the pink lake, salt crystals, seeping oil from an old rig, and the gypsum crystals were fantastic. Like being on another planet. Such a great experience.

    It’s a very long walk...

It’s a very long walk with no shade or place to sit down when you go see the pink salt lake. Be prepared it’s about 2 miles of walking but very interesting. Our guide was amazing!

Words cannot accurately describe this amazing place!

Easily the most impressive tour that Dima has to offer is a private experience to the remote and secret Pink Lake. Words cannot do this place justice as it is simply breathtaking. Dima took time to prepare us with boots and gloves that allowed us to walk in the water. Make sure you add this to your vacation plan!

Response from the operator: Dear Murtz, Thank you so much for your incredible review! We’re truly honored to hear that the Pink Lake experience felt so breathtaking and memorable. Visiting such a remote and hidden place, and being able to step into the water safely and comfortably, is exactly what makes this tour so unique. Thank you for sharing your enthusiasm and recommendation — it means a great deal to us. We sincerely hope to welcome you again on another unforgettable adventure in the future! Amazing Scenic Hidden Gem

The Pink Lake was a truly once-in-a-lifetime visit with the most incredible lake I've ever seen. Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Provo.

How much does Pink Lake & Giant Salt Crystals – Great Salt Lake Adventure cost?

    +

Prices start at $179 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Provo usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Pink Lake & Giant Salt Crystals – Great Salt Lake Adventure take?

    +

Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Provo is not rushed.

Is Pink Lake & Giant Salt Crystals – Great Salt Lake Adventure worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 67 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Provo, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Pink Lake & Giant Salt Crystals – Great Salt Lake Adventure?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Pink Lake & Giant Salt Crystals – Great Salt Lake Adventure suitable for kids and families?

How far in advance should I book Pink Lake & Giant Salt Crystals – Great Salt Lake Adventure?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Provo can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Provo and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Provo?

    +

Spring and fall bring the best weather and lighter crowds in Provo, while summer has the widest choice of tours and evening activities. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Provo?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
