Pienza is a small village in southern Tuscany, in the famous Val d'Orcia! It is located about 20 km east of Montalcino and a few miles west of Montepulciano in the beautiful region of Val d'Orcia south of Siena, among soft and poetic hills and fabulous views. Pienza enjoys a truly strategic position perched on the top of a hill, overlooking the entire valley with a breathtaking view. This charming village is widely known as the "ideal" city of the Renaissance, created by the great humanist Enea Silvio Piccolomini, who later became Pope Pius II. Experience was...

Experience was refreshing. The countryside was so lush and pleasant with rolling Hills and so peaceful. Recommend it to anyone.

Response from the operator: Thank you very much Thomas, it was so nice to meet you and your kind wife! The Tuscany Countryside is undoubtedly our best day trip from Rome. This tour has been carefully planned and tailor-made for our clients, so they can experience the best of Tuscany in just one day: breathtaking scenery, authentic cheese, and excellent red wine. Thank you again, grazie mille!!!

A Perfect Day in Tuscany with Alessandro

We had the most amazing day with Alessandro. He was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and easy to spend the day with. He really tailored the experience to fit our pace, even adjusting the schedule a bit when we decided to enjoy a longer lunch. He took us to a beautiful restaurant in Tuscany where we had a fantastic meal and some great local wine. Alessandro made sure we got to see and experience the best of Tuscany, even with our short stay in Rome. It truly felt like the perfect day, and we’re so grateful for his expertise and kindness. Highly recommend him to anyone looking for an authentic and unforgettable experience.

Tuscany Countryside Pienza and Montepulciamo

Pienza and Montepulciano were both beautiful. Alessandro was a great driver and a friendly and knowledgeable guide for the day. He made choices that were perfect for the two of us and we enjoyed his company on the drive there and back. Book this tour and ask for Alessandro!

Wonderful day in Tuscany

Alessandro turned a rainy day in Tuscany into an incredible experience. I was bummed when I saw the weather forecast but honestly it all ended up working out. He is super knowledgeable about the whole region. We learned so much. He had a plan for us and was prepared so that we barely noticed the bad weather. He gave us great recommendations the whole day and made this experience so easy! I’ll be recommending this day trip to friends and family!

Response from the operator: Grazie mille dear Shannon, the tour you booked is one of the best and beautiful day trip from Rome! Thank you again for your kind and helpful review!!! Love that

Our tour guide was very...

Our tour guide was very informative, kind and helpful. The cheese tasting in Pienza was delicious. We also learned about the cheese aging process. Pienza is a small country town where you imagine sitting and sipping coffee all day. The lunch was good afterwards and my husband and I throughly enjoyed learning about the wine as well. The tour guide also made sure to know us important places such as where Russel Crowe filmed part of gladiator and stopped so we could take pictures of the scenery before actually got to the town

Pienza and Montepulciano by Tuscan Hills from Rome Private Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Rome.

How much does Pienza and Montepulciano by Tuscan Hills from Rome Private Tour cost?

+

Prices start at $200 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Rome usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Pienza and Montepulciano by Tuscan Hills from Rome Private Tour take?

+

Plan for about 10 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Rome is not rushed.

Is Pienza and Montepulciano by Tuscan Hills from Rome Private Tour worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 73 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 27 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Rome, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Pienza and Montepulciano by Tuscan Hills from Rome Private Tour?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Pienza and Montepulciano by Tuscan Hills from Rome Private Tour suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 10-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Pienza and Montepulciano by Tuscan Hills from Rome Private Tour?

+

Around 9 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Rome can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Rome and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Pienza and Montepulciano by Tuscan Hills from Rome Private Tour start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Rome within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Rome?

+

Rome runs on skip-the-line access. The Colosseum underground, the Vatican before opening, and the catacombs south of the walls all require a licensed operator, and the price gap between the good ones and the rest is smaller than you would expect. We rank by guide credentials, group size and how reliably the promised access actually materialises. On Outty we rank every Rome experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Rome Pasta and Tiramisu Class: Ravioli, Fettuccine & Fine Wine 5*, Pasta Making & Wine Tasting with Dinner in Frascati from Rome, Rome: Pizza & Tiramisu or Gelato Class with Flowing Fine Wine 5*. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Rome?

+

April, May, September and October. August is hot and half the city is shut. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Rome?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
