A very disappointing experience with an unprofessional guide assigned
VERY DISAPPOINTED! The guide assigned to us was Pai fm Ruetai Secret Food Tour. We booked for 9 people for Phuket Old Town Food Tour with Michelin Tastings & 10 dishes. The group consisted of us 9 people including 4 others. As this was a big group, the guide Pai only concentrated on the 4 people who were walking ahead with her. She did not bother to stop and explain the places of interest to us. She just went ahead with the other group and we had to play catch up with her! We felt shortchanged as the food provided was not worth for the price we paid and it was definitely not Michelin star. The guide, Pai was always more bothered with the other 4 Caucasians giving them preference to sit inside of the shops with fans and telling us that we were a big group and had to sit outside even though we had a baby with us! Instead I told her that we would just wait for our seats inside the shops as we needed the fan. Along the way, she bought the sticky rice dumplings (Bak chang) & had us stop over at a Buddhist temple standing up around their eating area to share it while they were chanting prayer! At one of the stall, we even noticed that she packed a take away bag of some bits & pieces of the balance food for herself. Overall, we had a very bad experience as the tour was not what we paid for. The tour guide Pai was not friendly, not informative, not patient and had hardly did her job as a tour guide to represent Viator. She went thru the whole experience without explaining the food culture & places of interest as we walked by. I have always used Viator in many countries but this was the worst experience and I felt bad for my family who had all paid a lot for this tour to receive such a bad experience. Would not recommend this tour at all cos you would never know which guide you would end up with which would make your experience either a good or bad one.
Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback, Sheila. We do appreciate you explaining what happened from your perspective. We have taken your comments on board and will continue to look closely at these aspects of the tour as we refine the experience for our guests. Your feedback about the walking portions, the commentary, the arrangements at the food stops, and the way the experience was handled is valuable to us, especially when welcoming larger groups with different needs. We also appreciate you sharing your thoughts on the guide and the experience as a whole. We know our guests are trusting us with their time when they join a Secret Food Tour, and we want that time to be enjoyable, informative, and worthwhile from beginning to end. That said, thank you again for sharing your perspective with us. We would be happy to welcome you and your family back in the future and hope you will give us another opportunity to provide the experience you were looking forward to.

An excellent food and walking tour of Phuket Old Town!
This was my first time taking a Secret Food Tour and it was outstanding. Our guide Mindy was flexible, fun, and totally adaptable. When a place was closed, she had another ready. We visited so many interesting places and ate great food in just the right portions. It was a great way to see Old Town Phuket and would recommend it especially during this lovely cool season.
Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We’re glad our tour delivered a strong overall experience through food and local insight. You’re always welcome to explore another Secret Food Tours wherever you travel!

What an amazing experience. So many delicious foods to try. Great tour around places you'd never find on your own. We tried to return to two, both were sold out by afternoon, they were that good. We did manage to get into the restaurantwhere we had the fantastic moo kong (pork stew? Warangkana our guide was fantastic. I'd highly recommend this tour.

Why this scores 63
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Phuket Old Town Food Tour with Michelin Tastings & 10 Dishes: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Phuket.
How much does Phuket Old Town Food Tour with Michelin Tastings & 10 Dishes cost?
+
Prices start at $55 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Phuket usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Phuket Old Town Food Tour with Michelin Tastings & 10 Dishes take?
+
Plan for about 3.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Phuket is not rushed.
Is Phuket Old Town Food Tour with Michelin Tastings & 10 Dishes worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 63 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.6/5 across 11 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Phuket, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Phuket Old Town Food Tour with Michelin Tastings & 10 Dishes?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Phuket Old Town Food Tour with Michelin Tastings & 10 Dishes suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Phuket Old Town Food Tour with Michelin Tastings & 10 Dishes?
+
Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Phuket can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Phuket and add a light layer if any part of the 3.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Phuket Old Town Food Tour with Michelin Tastings & 10 Dishes start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Phuket within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Phuket?
+
On Outty we rank every Phuket experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Southern Flavors Phuket Food Tour with 15+ Tastings, James Bond Island by Big Boat w/ Sea Cave Canoeing and Lunch, Phang Nga Bay Canoeing & James Bond Island Tour from Phuket. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Phuket?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Phuket?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
