Ms. Lang was an amazing...

Ms. Lang was an amazing guide. Very knowledgeable and as friendly as they come! She also introduced us to other facets of the culture other than food, which was a nice plus. Would definitely recommend!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback! We’re thrilled to hear Ms. Lang made such a positive impression and shared more than just the culinary side of the culture. She’ll be delighted by your kind words. We truly appreciate the recommendation and hope to see you again!

Don’t bother.

Tour started off ok, there was only the two of us in the group. Driver arrived for our pick on time. He made some effort to explain some Thai history for us, however there was no microphone, so if we had been sitting further back in the van, we would have had no hope of hearing him, and some things were just plain hard to understand. First stop was the Chinese temple as advertised, however, it was from here things started going against the programme. We then arrived at some very local markets near a sporting field. Despite his assurances of ‘No sick’ we decided we would just play it safe with some fruit. The itinerary was then supposed to take us a to a lookout for sunset, but for some reason that didn’t happen. We then arrived in old town for some photos and some quick exploring. We were supposed to sample the shaved ice dessert and a local Thai dish (Khanom Chin), but none of that occurred. We then headed to the Chillva night time markets. Our guide went off and returned with Pad Thai, an egg dish and some mango and sticky rice (we had already had this dessert-at the previous market) Our guide then left and told us to meet him back in an hour. There was so much food to sample, and we were expecting some explanations and recommendations, but we were just left to guess. Returned back to our hotel, at around 8.30. It wasn’t until we read through the itinerary that we learned of the things we missed out on. No explanation from our guide at all. $93AUD per person for some Pad Thai and basic dessert. Extremely disappointing and poor value for money. Would not recommend.

Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your experience, and we truly appreciate your detailed feedback. We're genuinely sorry to hear that your tour didn’t meet your expectations and that there were several issues that impacted your experience. Our goal is to provide a memorable and enjoyable adventure for all our guests, and it’s clear we fell short in some areas during your trip. We apologize for the challenges with the sound during the history explanations. We understand how important it is to hear everything clearly, and we will address the issue with our guide to ensure that future guests have a better experience. Regarding the itinerary, we deeply regret the changes that occurred during the tour, including the missed sunset view and the absence of the planned food items. This is certainly not the standard we strive for, and we will be reviewing the itinerary with our team to ensure everything is adhered to in the future. We also recognize that you were left without proper guidance when visiting the Chillva night market, which is not the level of service we aim to provide. Our guides are meant to offer information, recommendations, and a clear explanation of the local foods, and we apologize for not meeting those expectations. Your feedback is invaluable in helping us improve, and we will take it seriously to make necessary improvements to both the itinerary and the overall guest experience. We sincerely hope that, despite this, you will consider giving us another opportunity to provide a more fulfilling tour experience in the future. Thank you again for your constructive comments. We genuinely appreciate your input.

Mostly a waste of money

Prompt pick up all started well ( I’d been contacted impressively in advance about food preferences and allergies and advised the operator in advance of our wishes ) guided to a Chinese temple ( very picturesque) but less relevant then off to a street market - gorgeous authentic BEST part of the trip!!! Anything we wanted we could try - but told not to have too much as the main course was in Phuket old town. Having been previously to the old town I know what to expect. Only ….. this is where the trip fell short - taken to tourist markets and then left for ages ( apparently waiting for food ) 40 mins later some shrimps / pork which I don’t eat no napkins ( other fish diners hasd gloves ans wipes, we were literally left in front of a band waiting not sure what we were doing. We were led to believe that main tour was the highlight as per previous reviews. 2 pad Thai arrived but there was four dinner akk had fish which we’d specifically said two don’t eat - all with fish and some then he turned up with chips ????? Loud noisy couldn’t wait to leave. Binned most of the food . Asked to leave. Such a shame had really high hopes. Do yourselves a favour and just get a taxi to old town market. I hoped having a guide would show us authentic selections. The local market was magic but over £40 each waste of money. Our guide was nice but then left us in Phuket so he could go home! Taxi dropped us at hotel couldn’t wait to go back to be honest.

Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are truly sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations, especially after the promising start and the enjoyable time at the local market. We understand your disappointment regarding the main part of the tour in Phuket Old Town and the issues with the food and lack of attention. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and frustration this caused. We appreciate your comments as they help us identify areas where we need to improve. We will be reviewing your feedback carefully to ensure we can provide a better experience for our future guests.

WORST Food Tour - DO Yourself a Favor and Skip it!

WORST Food Tour – Do Yourself a Favor and Skip It! We've been on four other fantastic food tours, and this one was a complete disappointment. If I could rate it below one star, I would. Instead of multiple stops at restaurants, street vendors, and markets like other tours, this one included just one restaurant, an outdoor dessert stand, and a quick visit to a market—with little to no guidance from the tour guide. He didn’t explain the local foods, offer recommendations, or demonstrate how to eat unfamiliar dishes. We even had to ask for a second bottle of water—on a 95-degree day! Unlike other food tours that provided numerous tastings and ample portions, we left this one hungry. Other tours also offered unlimited beverages (water, soda, or beer), but that wasn’t the case here. To top it off, we were unexpectedly taken to two temples—completely off-topic and not what we signed up for. This tour was a complete letdown. Save your time and money—there are far better options out there!

Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your feedback. We're truly sorry to hear that your experience with our food tour did not meet your expectations. We strive to provide a unique and memorable experience for all of our guests, and it’s disappointing to hear that we fell short in your case. We apologize for the lack of guidance and the limited food stops. We take your feedback seriously and will work on improving the tour to ensure that it aligns better with what our guests expect, including offering more food variety, proper explanations of local dishes, and additional support from our guides. Regarding the water and beverage offerings, we will certainly review our service standards to ensure that our guests are properly hydrated, especially in hot weather. The detour to the temples was unintended, and we sincerely apologize for any confusion or disappointment this may have caused. We appreciate you bringing these issues to our attention, and we hope you might give us another opportunity in the future to provide a much-improved experience.

Phuket: Flavours of the South Food Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Phuket.

How much does Phuket: Flavours of the South Food Tour cost?

+

Prices start at $45 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Phuket usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Phuket: Flavours of the South Food Tour take?

+

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Phuket is not rushed.

Is Phuket: Flavours of the South Food Tour worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 55 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.8/5 across 12 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Phuket, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Phuket: Flavours of the South Food Tour?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Phuket: Flavours of the South Food Tour suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Phuket: Flavours of the South Food Tour?

+

Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Phuket can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Phuket and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Phuket: Flavours of the South Food Tour start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Phuket within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Phuket?

+

On Outty we rank every Phuket experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Southern Flavors Phuket Food Tour with 15+ Tastings, James Bond Island by Big Boat w/ Sea Cave Canoeing and Lunch, Phang Nga Bay Canoeing & James Bond Island Tour from Phuket. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Phuket?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Phuket?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
