If you like wildlife and are a keen photographer, you will love this!
This experience was excellent. My guide Noelia and animal handler Isaias were both very knowledgeable, very patient and clearly enjoy their work. They were very careful with the animals they handled, explained everything they were doing to me and made sure that I was happy with the animals chosen and where they were placed for photography. I came away with some amazing shots and it was one of the best photography experiences I have ever had. I highly recommend this experience and if you want to see close-up views of these beautiful animals and take super pictures, this is the place to come. I had no concerns over animal welfare as they were all handled appropriately and appeared well looked after.

Shocking mistreatment of captive animals
After reading several wonderful reviews about Natura, I was absolutely devastated to see that they keep many animals in inhumane cages and enclosures that amount to animal cruelty, particularly when I wasn’t expecting to see any to begin with and didn’t think I was going to a bad zoo. They keep peacocks and chickens together in a filthy, very small coop, and peacocks in particular need to be free range. However, once the peacocks started wandering onto other properties they locked them up in terrible, heartbreaking conditions. They also have a single guinea pig at the entrance in a tiny glass fish tank, the poor thing has no space or anything to keep him busy and I can’t understand why they don’t give him a better environment with all of the space they have available. The trails are wonderful but that is irrelevant given their treatment of captive animals. You can find stunning trails in dozens of other places in La Fortuna that don’t support animal cruelty and it makes me sick that I financially contributed to the place by paying for a tour. Speaking of the tour, I booked one for morning bird watching believing it would be with a guide who worked at the park that would know the best places to spot specific animals. However, the park actually hires freelance guides who don’t have the same familiarity with the locations of wildlife on the property. My guide was actually really knowledgeable and pleasant, but at the end of the tour he tried flirting with me (I’m a woman traveling solo) and dropping hints that definitely soured the experience and has made me wary of booking tours unless I know the guide works for the park or through my hotel. I’ve discovered that the unfortunate problem that can arise with freelance guides is some really have no accountability to anyone, are lacking in professional ethics, and can therefore behave inappropriately with PAYING guests if they so choose. All in all Natura Eco Park was a very unfortunate experience and anyone who cares about humane and ethical treatment of captive animals should avoid it.

Good stop even on a rainy day!
Tour was great Ashley did a great job helping us get wonderful pictures of the poison dart frogs, and even some other frogs that were wild and just hanging out in the park!

Mixed Experience with the Photography Tour at Natura Eco Park
Our recent Photography Tour at Natura Eco Park left us with mixed feelings. While we encountered knowledgeable and motivated staff who were great to talk to, there were also aspects of the experience that left us disappointed. On the positive side, the staff at Natura Eco Park demonstrated a genuine passion for wildlife and were eager to share their knowledge with us. We enjoyed engaging in conversations with them and appreciated their enthusiasm for the animals in their care. Additionally, there were plenty of animals to photograph, providing ample opportunities for us to capture captivating images. However, we were disappointed to learn that the animals we encountered during the tour were held in captivity rather than being wild. This revelation diminished our excitement, as it was not clearly stated when booking the tour. While we understand the challenges of providing a controlled environment for photography, we believe it's essential to prioritize the welfare and freedom of the animals. Furthermore, we found the photographic setup at Natura Eco Park to be lacking. Despite the staff's best efforts, there seemed to be a lack of photographic knowledge. While it was appreciated that the setup was sheltered from the rain, this sometimes affected the quality of the photographs due to suboptimal lighting and backgrounds. The setup was also made too busy making it hard to find a good composition on the images. In conclusion, while we acknowledge the dedication and motivation of the staff at Natura Eco Park, we believe there is room for improvement in the Photography Tour experience. Consulting with a photographer to enhance the overall setup and ensuring that the welfare of the animals is prioritized are areas where improvements could be made. Additionally, implementing a rotational schedule for selecting animals to photograph (and not letting people decide which animal they want to see) could help minimize disturbance and provide a more ethical approach to animal care. We hope that Natura Eco Park will take the initiative to address these concerns and create a more fulfilling and ethical experience for visitors in the future.

Photography Tour at Natura Eco Park: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for La Fortuna.
How much does Photography Tour at Natura Eco Park cost?

Prices start at $130 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in La Fortuna usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Photography Tour at Natura Eco Park take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in La Fortuna is not rushed.
Is Photography Tour at Natura Eco Park worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 55 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.4/5 across 16 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in La Fortuna, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Photography Tour at Natura Eco Park?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Photography Tour at Natura Eco Park suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Photography Tour at Natura Eco Park?
+
Around 6 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in La Fortuna can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in La Fortuna and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Photography Tour at Natura Eco Park start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central La Fortuna within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in La Fortuna?
+
On Outty we rank every La Fortuna experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Upper Balsa River White Water Rafting Class 3/4 in Costa Rica, White Water Rafting Class II and III, Authentic Coffee and Chocolate Tour at North Fields. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit La Fortuna?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in La Fortuna?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
