Fantastic day trip

A great day all round. Everything was really well organised, the tour guides were fun and clear with instructions. The islands were beautiful and worth visiting. Would highly recommend

Only disaster

Retrieval worked well at 7:45 a.m., not much after that. After a 1.5h journey, a longer wait at the pier (with a small breakfast with toast, coffee, tea, water and horrific toilets) and briefing, the departure by boat was only at 11am instead of 9am! Fins could be borrowed there for 100Baht, only snorkel + mask are incusive. Before departure, pictures are taken "for insurance" which are sold printed on small plates after arrival. In addition, we were squeezed into the boat with 42 people + crew instead of as promised "max. 30 pers./group"! Actual snorkeling opportunities were available as a whole 2. In between, you could swim twice short if you hurried, because the not even so delicious lunch in a completely crowded canteen with 6-8 holding pots was relatively far to run, and the "break time" of 1h on Phi Phi Don was almost exhausted. At the second swim stop, our break time was reduced from 40 to 20 minutes because one family decided last minute (instead of giving notice in advance like the other family) on a private longtail boat, which the entire boat had to wait for at the entrance of the lagoon. Here you could have simply told the family that it is now too late for the booking, as the trip for 400Baht/person with a good 20min time is not worth it anyway, instead of stealing this time from all participants for this small turnover more. We were told "go ahead, don't waste your time" at every short stop, but that's exactly what they did for everyone. Water was only available on the boat in small, pre-packaged drinking cups (great for the environment because they also end up in the sea quickly), but not at the last stop on Khai Island. It becomes clear that in the high season the demand is simply far too high and it degenerates into an absolute mass tourism - overall there were too many stops and far too many people everywhere - in the high season, so absolutely not recommended.

Phi Phi & Khai Island by Speed Boat: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Phuket.

How much does Phi Phi & Khai Island by Speed Boat cost?

+

Prices start at $2200 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Phuket usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Phi Phi & Khai Island by Speed Boat take?

+

Plan for about 9 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Phuket is not rushed.

Is Phi Phi & Khai Island by Speed Boat worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 43 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3/5 across 2 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable culture & history in Phuket, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Phi Phi & Khai Island by Speed Boat?

+

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is Phi Phi & Khai Island by Speed Boat suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 4. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 9-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Phi Phi & Khai Island by Speed Boat?

+

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Phuket can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Phuket and add a light layer if any part of the 9-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Phi Phi & Khai Island by Speed Boat start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Phuket within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Phuket?

+

On Outty we rank every Phuket experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Southern Flavors Phuket Food Tour with 15+ Tastings, James Bond Island by Big Boat w/ Sea Cave Canoeing and Lunch, Phang Nga Bay Canoeing & James Bond Island Tour from Phuket. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Phuket?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Phuket?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
