  2. Perito Moreno

The trek will start with a leisurely walk of about ½ mile (1 km) along the shore of the lake. After, your guides will give a short brief on safety and glaciology. Upon reaching the edge of the glacier, subgroups of a maximum of 20 travelers will be organized, each accompanied by two professional guides (creating a ratio of 10 travelers per guide). With their help, you’ll put on your helmet and crampons then begin your ice walk on the Perito Moreno Glacier. Next, you’ll return to your starting point on the ice and give back the crampons and the remaining equipment. You’ll continue walking along the moraine until finally leaving it behind to reach a panoramic view of the Perito Moreno Glacier, featuring the mountains and lake. Then, you’ll start the return trip through a path that crosses the Patagonian Andean Forest where you’ll reach the refuge. At the refuge, staff will be waiting for you with a hot drink and a small surprise (a souvenir). After this short break, you’ll embark on the return trip to Puerto Bajo Las Sombras, but first, take a last look at the enormous walls of the glacier from the boat.

Is Perito Moreno Ice hike & walkways from El Calafate - Minitrekking worth it?

+

That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in El Calafate, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Perito Moreno Ice hike & walkways from El Calafate - Minitrekking?

+

Is Perito Moreno Ice hike & walkways from El Calafate - Minitrekking suitable for kids and families?

The operator sets a minimum age of 8. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 10-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Perito Moreno Ice hike & walkways from El Calafate - Minitrekking?

+

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What are the best things to do in El Calafate?

+

On Outty we rank every El Calafate experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Perito Moreno Glacier Full Day Tour with Optional Boat Safari, Kayak Full-Day Activity in La Leona River from El Calafate, Perito Moreno Glacier with Navigation from El Calafate. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit El Calafate?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in El Calafate?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
