Amazing opportunity, should not be missed

Beautiful place, the woman doing our experience was beyond sweet!!! My husband and I chose the same top note but it is absolutely insane how different our scents are! I cannot recommend this experience enough, 1000% a must to do when in Harajuku, it’s calming and a great balance from the busy and bustling side of town.

The perfect break from the Harajuku craziness

A nice calm and relaxing activity. A wonderful break from the craziness of Harajuku. My family thought it was unique, fashion and style adjacent, and a nice custom experience.

Making perfume in a beautiful, calm space

Perfume-making in Harajuku was an incredible experience for my teenage sons, who are fans of fragrances. Our perfumer set out an array of local scents for them to select and blend. She assisted them in finding good pairings and advised on concentrations of the various notes. After they created their combinations, she served us a glass of aromatic juice blended with edible perfume and blended their fragrances, decanting them into beautiful bottles. The boys were invited to give a name to their creation and each walked out with a custom fragrance of their making. It was a fun and aesthetically beautiful experience.

Response from the operator: Thank you very much for writing such a wonderful review. I’m truly grateful that your two sons participated in our perfume-making experience. Watching them enjoy the process brought me so much joy as well. There were even moments when they kindly helped me — they were both incredibly thoughtful and polite, and I truly appreciated their kindness. The fragrances they created were full of their unique personalities and charm — the results were absolutely beautiful. It was an honor to be part of such a fun and memorable family moment. For those who love perfume, I believe this experience can deepen one’s understanding of fragrance and allow them to enjoy perfumes on an even richer level. Thank you once again, from the bottom of my heart.

Hidden Gem!!!

I think we found an hidden gem! Give it a try for a unique hands on experience while in Tokyo. Bonus- no crowds! Our host let us know they don’t frequently get foreigners for this class, but we loved it! I took a chance because there were no reviews here, but I think we found a hidden gem! Our host spoke English and was very kind. You get to sample all of the individual scents and pair the samples together until you find your perfect combo. Once you pick your combo (usually 3-5 notes) she starts to make the perfume. She sprays it in a glass funnel where you can smell the notes together and tweak. I added more sweetness to mine at this stage. Once you approve, she continues to make the rest of the bottle and applies the nozzle spray. You name the fragrance and she prints a label with the name and the notes and a unique number so you could order again. The class included 1oz per person, but I asked to make 2 separate scents and that was ok! My husband also left with 2, 1oz bottles but both with the same scent - so there is flexibility! The extra bottles were roughly $100 at the time of our visit. We had a lot of fun and the custom fragrance is a special souvenir we can take home. We also got a mocktail after we’re done smelling everything which was a nice touch. The space is very pretty and chic. Logistically it was easy to find. Taxi to the Folks building. Take stairs or elevator to the second floor. Use iPad to call back to be let in. iPad didn’t translate well so we guessed and it worked! We clicked reception. Then a list of options appeared all in Japanese. We picked the top left option and then we saw Aurora Blend Bar in English and clicked it. That is what called our host to come to the door to let us in.

Response from the operator: I was truly touched by your kind and thoughtful review. Thank you so much. It was a great pleasure to assist you, a lovely couple, in creating your fragrance together as part of your travel memories. Even after you return home and daily life begins again, I hope the scent will always bring back joyful memories of your trip. As I mentioned during our conversation, we hope to welcome more international visitors in the future. That’s why I’m especially grateful for your considerate review, which will be very helpful for future guests from abroad. I’m already looking forward to welcoming you again someday.

Perfume Making with Japanese Scents in Harajuku Tokyo: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Tokyo.

How much does Perfume Making with Japanese Scents in Harajuku Tokyo cost?

+

Prices start at $22000 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Tokyo usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Perfume Making with Japanese Scents in Harajuku Tokyo take?

+

Plan for about 1.2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Tokyo is not rushed.

Is Perfume Making with Japanese Scents in Harajuku Tokyo worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 56 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 7 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Tokyo, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Perfume Making with Japanese Scents in Harajuku Tokyo?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Perfume Making with Japanese Scents in Harajuku Tokyo suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 10. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 1.2-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Perfume Making with Japanese Scents in Harajuku Tokyo?

+

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Tokyo can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Tokyo and add a light layer if any part of the 1.2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Perfume Making with Japanese Scents in Harajuku Tokyo start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Tokyo within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Tokyo?

+

Tokyo is less a city than a stack of neighborhoods with completely different opening hours. A guided food crawl through Shinjuku's Omoide Yokocho gets you past the no-tourist curtains, while the day trips west to Hakone and Fuji need an early start to be worth the fare. Our ranking weighs guide quality heavily here, because in Tokyo the guide is the product. On Outty we rank every Tokyo experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Tokyo Shinjuku Chopsticks Making Class, Tokyo : Asakusa Chopsticks Making Class, Shinjuku Night Food and Bar Crawl. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Tokyo?

+

Late March to May for blossom, October to November for clear Fuji views. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Tokyo?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
