Top!
Meri showed our family Kyoto very enthusiastically and patiently. She picked us up at the train and also brought us back to our train on the correct platform at the end of the day. Despite the extreme heat, we had a beautiful day!

Just what I hoped for
The total experience was everything I hoped for. Our guide, Jimmy, was nearly fluent in English that he learned during his time at American University. This was a great relief for me since I had so many questions about everything in Japan. We took trails, cobblestone paths and streets up and down the steep hills of Kyoto finishing in downtown Kyoto. Jimmy knew all the expected details of the temples and other sites and he knew all the secret places, alleys, and side streets that we would have never ventured without him. Thank you Jimmy. I hope to be back!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful and detailed review! We're thrilled to hear that you had such a memorable experience exploring Kyoto with Jimmy. It's great to know that Jimmy's knowledge, language skills, and personal insights helped make your journey more enjoyable and allowed you to discover both the famous sites and hidden gems that you might not have found on your own. We’re glad you enjoyed walking through the trails, cobblestone paths, and charming streets of Kyoto while learning more about the temples and local culture. Thank you again for joining our tour, and we hope to welcome you back to Japan and on another experience in the future!

Great guides who went above and beyond!
Wonderful guides! The meal that they planned for our rather large group was great (a place that we would never have found on our own) One of them went above and beyond and helped a member of my team recover their lost wallet with the local police!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We're delighted to hear that you and your group had a great experience. It's wonderful to know you enjoyed the meal, and we're especially happy that our guide was able to help your team member recover their lost wallet. We'll be sure to share your kind words with our guides. Thank you for joining us, and we hope to welcome you again on another tour!

Adventure!
It was a wonderful trip! The spots we visited were cool and full of sights and interesting history. Our guide Mari is a true gem - she helped after tour to find my lost wallet - went back to the approximate spot to look around, helped to communicate to every shop owner and police and I got it back! Really, thank you for helping me out, I would not be able to to do that without you 🧡

Why this scores 62
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
PERFECT Kyoto Day – Custom Private Tour by Award-Winning Operator: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Kyoto.
How much does PERFECT Kyoto Day – Custom Private Tour by Award-Winning Operator cost?
+
Prices start at $47000 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Kyoto usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does PERFECT Kyoto Day – Custom Private Tour by Award-Winning Operator take?
+
Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Kyoto is not rushed.
Is PERFECT Kyoto Day – Custom Private Tour by Award-Winning Operator worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 62 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 9 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Kyoto, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule PERFECT Kyoto Day – Custom Private Tour by Award-Winning Operator?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is PERFECT Kyoto Day – Custom Private Tour by Award-Winning Operator suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book PERFECT Kyoto Day – Custom Private Tour by Award-Winning Operator?
+
Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Kyoto can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Kyoto and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does PERFECT Kyoto Day – Custom Private Tour by Award-Winning Operator start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Kyoto within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Kyoto?
+
On Outty we rank every Kyoto experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Kyoto : Gion Make Your Own Chopsticks with Engraving Option, Kyoto: Gion Hidden Gems & Geisha Culture Tour, Ultimate Kyoto Arashiyama Tour: Bamboo, Monkeys & Hidden Gardens. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Kyoto?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Kyoto?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
