⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ A Fun Family Adventure Through Ancient Athens
⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ A Fun Family Adventure Through Ancient Athens Our family had a wonderful time on the Percy & Medusa Mythology Treasure Hunt in Athens! If you have kids who enjoy Greek mythology—or are fans of Percy Jackson—this is a unique and engaging way to explore the city's incredible history. Our guides were absolutely fantastic. They were friendly, enthusiastic, energetic, and did a wonderful job keeping everyone engaged throughout the experience. Their passion for Greek mythology and Athens' history really shined through. The route itself was outstanding. We visited so many of Athens' iconic landmarks, including the Temple of Olympian Zeus, the Acropolis Museum, the Theatre of Dionysus, the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, Areopagus Hill, the Ancient Agora, the beautiful streets of Plaka, and the Tower of the Winds. Along the way, we solved riddles, learned fascinating stories about ancient Greece, and enjoyed spectacular views of the Acropolis. One unexpected highlight was meeting at Lukumades for delicious fresh Greek donuts—a fun and tasty way to start the tour that everyone in our group loved! There were just a few things that kept this from being a perfect five-star experience. First, the meeting location was very confusing and difficult to find. It wasn't just our family—another group was also late several due to trying to figure out where to meet up, so clearer directions or photos of the meeting point would be very helpful. Second, while the "treasure hunt" was enjoyable, we were hoping for a bit more Percy Jackson-themed interaction. Much of the mythology and gameplay came through the required app, and we would have loved to see more live storytelling, role-playing, or interactive challenges led by the guides themselves to really bring the Percy Jackson theme to life. Finally, be prepared for a lot of walking. The tour covers an impressive amount of Athens, which is wonderful, but by the end many of the adults and especially the kids in our group were pretty tired. Comfortable walking shoes and water are definitely a must! Would we do it again? Absolutely! The incredible sights, fascinating history, fun guides, and unique treasure hunt made this a memorable experience. With a few small improvements—especially a clearer meeting point, a little more Percy Jackson immersion/role playing—this could easily become one of the very best family tours in Athens. Overall, we highly recommend it for families looking for a fun, educational, and interactive way to discover ancient Athens.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review and thoughtful suggestions. We’re delighted that you enjoyed the experience and that our guides made it memorable for your family. Regarding the meeting point, we would like to clarify that detailed instructions are provided both on the booking page and again via email after reservation. Still, we appreciate your feedback and will continue refining the clarity of our directions. “Percy & Medusa” is an app‑supported treasure hunt based on ancient Greek mythology, local history, and cultural insights about Athens. Its adventurous narrative is inspired by the modern mythology approach associated with Percy Jackson, but it is not intended as an in‑depth experience based solely on the books. The activity brings mythology to life through interactive storytelling, missions, challenges, quizzes, and exploration, all supported by our facilitators. A live leaderboard adds a fun competitive element throughout the experience. Thank you again for your kind words and helpful feedback. We’re thrilled you would join us again.

A pretty disappointing experience
The guides were very friendly and this is not their fault- but the tour started 25 minutes late- we were left waiting for this as they were running late from a previous tour. The more experienced guide then had to leave early to get to the next tour- they may be overscheduled which isn't fair on them or the customers. The content of the tour was also really really light on anything related to Percy Jackson. We essentially walked around Athens together and answered some questions on the app. It was not the £200 tour I was expecting. I would have expected more stories of mythology, more Percy Jackson related content, maybe an actual treasure hunt or any props. We could have done this ourselves with the app. Finally, it was unexpected that we were with two other families. Nothing on the tour made it clear that this was a shared tour and not a private one. A pretty disappointing experience- but none of this is the tour guides fault- they were friendly and kind. It is clear that the Narratologies company has not put in enough thought into this tour.
Response from the operator: Thank you for your detailed feedback and your kind comments about our guides. We sincerely apologise for the delay. It was an exceptionally busy day even for the early season, and all families had been informed in advance for this. However, this should not have impacted your experience. “Percy & Medusa” is an app-supported treasure hunt based on ancient Greek mythology, local history and cultural information about Athens. Its adventurous narrative is inspired by the modern approach to mythology associated with Percy Jackson, but it is not intended as an in-depth experience based on the books. The experience brings mythology to life through interactive storytelling, missions, challenges, quizzes and exploration, all supported by our facilitators. A live leaderboard tracks each team’s score, adding a fun and engaging competitive element throughout the activity. The activity is listed as a shared experience, although we regret that this and the overall format were not sufficiently clear before booking. We appreciate your comments and will use them to improve both our organisation and the way we communicate the experience.

Great tour for young kids
This tour is a fun experience for you if you’re traveling with kids. The guide (Niki) did a great job helping to get our kids into the excitement of the treasure hunt/story. You get to see a lot of the historical spots along the way with some great views. It has an interactive app to go along with the tour.
Response from the operator: Hello Chris. Thank you warmly for your detail review. It will be really helpful for future customers. We will make sure to pass along your kind words to our guide and we hope to see you again in the future in one of our experiences.

Excellent family adventure
Our family (including two boys of 8 and 10) absolutely loved this tour! Both our sons are Greek Mythology fans and the clues and riddles were perfectly suited to their knowledge. The tour was exceptionally well organised and our guide Jo was fun and knowledgeable. The food stops were delicious, but what we loved most was how the tour took us to so many hidden corners we might have missed otherwise. Our sons loved all the history and details they learnt through the game! We will definitely recommend this tour and we’ll be doing more of these on our trip!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for sharing this heartfelt message. It truly means the world to hear how much your family—especially your two young mythology enthusiasts—enjoyed the experience. Jo will be so touched to hear your kind words. Wishing you many more magical moments on the rest of your trip!

Why this scores 63
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Percy & Medusa: Family Mythology Treasure Hunt & Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Athens.
How much does Percy & Medusa: Family Mythology Treasure Hunt & Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $38 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Athens usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Percy & Medusa: Family Mythology Treasure Hunt & Tour take?
+
Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Athens is not rushed.
Is Percy & Medusa: Family Mythology Treasure Hunt & Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 63 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 10 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Athens, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Percy & Medusa: Family Mythology Treasure Hunt & Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Percy & Medusa: Family Mythology Treasure Hunt & Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Percy & Medusa: Family Mythology Treasure Hunt & Tour?
+
Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Athens can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Athens and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Percy & Medusa: Family Mythology Treasure Hunt & Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Athens within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Athens?
+
On Outty we rank every Athens experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Athens Small Group E-Bike Tour, Small Group Greek Traditional Food Tour in Athens 20+ Tastings, Athens Scenic Bike Tour with Regular or Electric Bike + Acropolis. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Athens?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Athens?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
