False Advertising by Traveling Spoon
The advert on Tripadvisor says you will "Enjoy a private and authentic cooking class in a cooking studio with host Colin who works as the main chef at a cooking studio and has previously worked in airlines, restaurants and hotels." I arrived for my class and it was NOT conducted by Colin. When I booked the class, the advert on Tripadvisor stated that you would cook laksa. That was false. I was told on the day of my class that you "must ask to cook laksa when you book". That is NOT what the advert on Tripadvisor stated when I booked. I was never informed by phone or email that Colin was unavailable/ sick/ had left the company before my class. I'm not sure what the consumer laws in Singapore are, but the information this company put on Tripadvisor would qualify as "false and misleading" advertising in Australia. Note to "Traveling Spoon". If circumstances change and you can't offer what you advertise, contact the customer and give them an option to cancel. Your company seems to value MONEY above CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. I feel like I was conned by this company and am very dissapointed by the experience.
Response from the operator: Dear guest, We are so sorry that you had such a disappointing experience. It sounds like you really wanted an experience with Colin and wanted to make Laksa and you got neither. We do state in multiple places in the description that if Colin is unavailable, his colleague Denise who is equally passionate about food hosts instead. Laksa is one of the offerings we include on the sample menu - however, this is a sample menu and we state below it that the menu varies. Regardless, it sounds like an experience with Colin and learning Laksa was most important to you and we needed to be clearer about both those things in the description. We have updated our description to better manage future expectations. It saddens me that it came across that we cared more about money than taking care of our community and we have provided a refund. We built this company to offer travelers authentic and meaningful experiences, preserve culinary traditions and provide income to locals. We are working hard to remain true to our mission. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We take feedback seriously and are grateful for it as it helps us improve. Sincerely, Aashi

Awesome Class, Chef Colin is a lot of Fun
We had a very fun class, everything is hands on which is what we love. Chef Colin talked about culture and the history of the food, which is perfect to know when learning to cook traditional recipes. 100% recommend this class

Why this scores 46
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Peranakan Cooking Class in Singapore, near Lavender MRT Station: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Singapore.
How much does Peranakan Cooking Class in Singapore, near Lavender MRT Station cost?
+
Prices start at $64 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Singapore usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Peranakan Cooking Class in Singapore, near Lavender MRT Station take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Singapore is not rushed.
Is Peranakan Cooking Class in Singapore, near Lavender MRT Station worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 46 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4/5 across 4 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable family friendly in Singapore, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Peranakan Cooking Class in Singapore, near Lavender MRT Station?
+
No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.
Is Peranakan Cooking Class in Singapore, near Lavender MRT Station suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Peranakan Cooking Class in Singapore, near Lavender MRT Station?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Singapore can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Singapore and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Peranakan Cooking Class in Singapore, near Lavender MRT Station start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Singapore within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Singapore?
+
On Outty we rank every Singapore experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Singapore Highlights Small Group Bike Tour on Full-Sized Bicycles, Lion City Bike Tour of Singapore, Singapore River Cruise, Night Garden Rhapsody & Spectra by CYT. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Singapore?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Singapore?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
