An experience ruined by poor organization

My experience with the full tour of Paracas and Huacachina from Lima has been quite disappointing. The places we visited are spectacular and very much worth it, but the management and organization of the tour were, in my opinion, disastrous. The excursion to the Ballestas Islands went well and up to that point everything was going correctly. The problem began when returning to the bus. Upon boarding, they had changed the seats we had used during the entire trip. It is not about wanting to sit next to a friend or a question of comfort, but a basic question of organization and, above all, safety. If during the trip each person has a seat assigned or marked by the guide, the logical thing is to maintain those same seats during the tour. At this point, the guide Luis should have been stricter and should have clearly indicated that each person had to keep their seat. But, without a doubt, the worst part of the day was the meal. We were waiting for nearly two hours and, finally, the guide himself asked me: “You haven't ordered, right?”. I had ordered. At 11:00 in the morning, I placed the order along with my friends through the link that he himself had sent to the WhatsApp group. However, my dish did not arrive until 3:30 PM. To top it off, I had to share it with another guy at my table who also had not been brought his food. A totally unacceptable situation after having waited so long. Furthermore, some people were offered a complimentary drink and we were not, without being given any explanation. All of this made the service during the meal really bad and caused us to lose a lot of time. I also consider that there was a lack of transparency on the part of the guide. At the beginning of the tour, Luis presented the restaurant/place where we were going to eat as if it were an exceptional and special site of the tour, when later it became clear that it is a place where they habitually take groups. It does not seem right to me to sell an experience in a certain way when the reality is different. All this delay had direct consequences on the Huacachina part. We should have started the activities around 4:00 PM, but we finally arrived at 5:00 PM. Evidently, we were no longer able to enjoy the two hours planned. The sunset arrived practically as soon as we got there, so we had very little time to really enjoy the sandboarding and the experience in the dunes. It is a shame, because Huacachina was precisely one of the parts I was most excited about. Finally, there was also a significant lack of information regarding dinner. Luis sent a link to the WhatsApp group, but he did not clearly explain what had to be done. Nobody knew that dinner was for picking up and eating later on the bus. Such important information should have been explained clearly over the microphone and to the whole group, instead of just sending a link without sufficient instructions. In summary: the places we visited were spectacular and the itinerary itself has a lot of potential, but the organization, communication, and time management were very poor. A tour of this type depends a lot on the guide knowing how to organize the group, give clear instructions, and control the timing, and in this case I consider that it was not done well. I will keep the landscapes and experiences of Paracas and Huacachina, but not the tour organization. A shame, because with much more professional management it could have been an incredible day.
