An Authentic Wine Tour Beyond the Ordinary

The best experience of my first Sicily tour.

via Tripadvisor

I very highly recommend this experience

Benny organized and facilitated what was easily one of the highlights of our trip and an absolute must-do if you’re visiting Sicily. He picked up my friends and I directly from our accommodation just outside Palermo and took us to a beautiful vineyard, where we enjoyed a private wine tour before sitting down to an incredible home-cooked three-course lunch, with each course perfectly paired with a different local wine. The food, wine, and hospitality were all exceptional. After lunch, we had the chance to relax at the vineyard and take in the stunning views before Benny took us to a spectacular beach for a swim. Throughout the entire day, everything was seamlessly organized, and Benny’s local knowledge and friendly personality made the experience even more enjoyable. If you’re looking for a unique way to experience the best of Sicily’s food, wine, scenery, and hospitality, we couldn’t recommend this experience more highly.

Benny was such a fun and...

Benny was such a fun and passionate storyteller who made every effort to ensure we had an amazing time! We loved his local knowledge and it was clear that he knew a TON about Palermo and the surrounding areas. All of the locals knew Benny! The winery that he brought us to was a family environment that we loved—they served us a local and delicious lunch in their home and introduced us to their grandchild. It was such a special experience. All of that said, it was the only winery that we visited, and I wouldn’t say it was a typical “tasting.” The emphasis was on family and connection (which was amazing!), not on the wine itself, as we drank several wines with lunch. For that reason, we feel like this should be advertised as more of a local tour of Palermo rather than a “wine tour.” When we go on a wine tour, we do expect to see a tour of wines—and thus we expect to visit several wineries or at least taste many kinds of wine. And for the price of the tour, we did expect multiple stops. We tasted three different kinds of wine the entire day and did not taste a single red wine in an area that is widely known for its syrahs and Nero d’avolas. Instead of visiting wineries, we made several stops for things like coffee, pastries, etc. Benny stated that he only ever stops at one winery per day, so we were disappointed to see prior reviews where groups stopped at several wineries. If you are interested in touring the surrounding Palermo area with an incredible storyteller who is fun, passionate, caring, and lively, book with Benny! He is a fantastic person. If you have knowledge and passion of wines and are interested in doing a tour of multiple Palermo wineries, perhaps look into booking a more typical winery tour.

Palermo Authentic Private Wine Experience with Winemaker: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Palermo.

How much does Palermo Authentic Private Wine Experience with Winemaker cost?

+

Prices start at $380 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Palermo usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Palermo Authentic Private Wine Experience with Winemaker take?

+

Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Palermo is not rushed.

Is Palermo Authentic Private Wine Experience with Winemaker worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 43 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 3 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable food & drink in Palermo, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Palermo Authentic Private Wine Experience with Winemaker?

+

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is Palermo Authentic Private Wine Experience with Winemaker suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 35. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 5-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Palermo Authentic Private Wine Experience with Winemaker?

+

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Palermo can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Palermo and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Palermo Authentic Private Wine Experience with Winemaker start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Palermo within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Palermo?

+

On Outty we rank every Palermo experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Palermo Pizza & Gelato Cooking Class with Meal & Wine, Palermo Food Tour: 10+ Tastings of Arancini, Cannoli, Wine & More, Palermo Sicilian Street Food Tour: Small Group by Do Eat Better. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Palermo?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Palermo?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
