The drive to Palccoyo is approximately 3.5 hours until we make the first stop in Combapata. When we reach the Palccoyo pass, we will walk uphill for approximately 40-50 minutes (5000m/16,400ft). Here you will have spectacular panoramic views of three Rainbow Mountain Palccoyo peaks as well as the highest mountain in the Cusco region (Ausangate). We will spend approximately an hour here taking pictures, and enjoying the stunning view. After this, we will make our way back to our private transportation to head to Checacupe where we will visit its stunning colonial Bridge, (we will spend about 20 minutes here to take pictures and explore the area). After this, we will have time to enjoy a delicious lunch made by locals. We will then take our private transportation back to Cusco (approximately 2.5-hour drive). Loved it! Hard to place it over Maccu Pichu but it is close
We did a bunch of excursions while in the Cusco region and this is the only one that was managed well. The guide and driver were great, the meals were great and the mountains were amazing. Dress warm for the morning drive and know that you can leave your excess things in the van while you hike.
Response from the operator: Thank you, Marc! The practical tips you've left for future travellers are spot on too. Appreciate the review!

Rainbow mountain
We had an experience. We were a group of 3 friends along with other people in a mini bus. There thing was very well organised. The guide who came along with us helped us in every step. He helped in climbing the mountain without any difficulty.
Response from the operator: Thank you! Really glad the guide was attentive throughout and made the climb feel manageable. Palccoyo is a great option for a group and it's good to hear the organisation on the day ran smoothly. Appreciate you taking the time to leave a review!

A wonderful experience
The tour is easy to hike. You need to be acclimated The Guide and the driver took care of us (seniors) a ton. Unfortunately the confirmed pickup time by Viator 6.30am did‘t fit to the time of our real pickup (4.30h information by the company). Maybe our special problem. Nevertheless A great impression.
Response from the operator: Thank you for the feedback and really glad the guide and driver looked after you well on the day. Regarding the pickup time, there can occasionally be a discrepancy between the time shown on Viator and the actual departure time we communicate directly, we're sorry for any confusion that caused and will look into how we can make that clearer upfront. Glad it didn't detract too much from the overall experience.

Unforgettable day!
So pleased we did this tour! The altitude took our breath away but not as much as the rainbow mountains - they were awesome. I can’t believe how many there were. Very glad we did the tour with Into Peru as they were super. Punctual, friendly and well organised. An unforgettable day!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your kind review. We are so glad to know you enjoyed your time in Peru and were happy with the service we provided. It was our pleasure to show the Palcoyo. We would be happy to welcome you again. All the best.

Why this scores 67
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Palccoyo Rainbow Mountain tour in a group: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cusco.
How much does Palccoyo Rainbow Mountain tour in a group cost?
+
Prices start at $99 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cusco usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Palccoyo Rainbow Mountain tour in a group take?
+
Plan for about 11 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cusco is not rushed.
Is Palccoyo Rainbow Mountain tour in a group worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 67 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 14 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cusco, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Palccoyo Rainbow Mountain tour in a group?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Palccoyo Rainbow Mountain tour in a group suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 12. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 11-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Palccoyo Rainbow Mountain tour in a group?
+
Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cusco can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cusco and add a light layer if any part of the 11-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Palccoyo Rainbow Mountain tour in a group start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cusco within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Cusco?
+
On Outty we rank every Cusco experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Sacred Valley Full Day Tour, Peruvian Cooking Class Cocktails and Market Tour in Cusco, Cusco: Rainbow Mountain & Red Valley Premium Day Trip with Meals. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Cusco?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Cusco?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
