About this experience
The Palccoyo Rainbow Mountain in the Peruvian Andes offers an alternative experience to the more well-known Vinicunca Rainbow Mountain. One of the standout features of Palccoyo is that it is less frequented by tourists, resulting in a more peaceful and unhurried atmosphere for visitors. This contrasts with the often crowded trails of Vinicunca. Furthermore, the trek to Palccoyo is shorter and generally considered easier, catering to those who may not want a strenuous hike but still wish to experience the beauty of natural rainbow mountains. Unlike Vinicunca, which boasts one primary rainbow-patterned mountain, Palccoyo offers views of three colored mountains, enriching the panoramic experience. Alongside these colorful terrains, the region is home to the unique Stone Forest, an enchanting rock formation. The journey to Palccoyo also provides visitors with a closer glimpse of local Quechua communities, offering insights into their traditions, agriculture, and rich cultural heritage.

An impeccable experience
It was a perfect visit, from breakfast, climbing the mountain, lunch and until we were dropped off at the hotel. From the transfer to the mountain you can see very beautiful landscapes, once you leave us at the foot of the mountain the adventure begins. That day we got snow and increased the experience, the guides always kept an eye on us, supported us and did not leave us alone at any time. They gave us the explanation of why mountains have that color. The scenery was magical. It must be mentioned that all the time the guides are taking care of you, they accompany you and do not leave you behind.

Amazing landscape and great tour!
Brian is a very attentive and patient guide all throughout our tour. He provided valuable insight and ensured we were all prepared before we commenced our two-hour hike. He helped with our photos and videos. The views are amazing and the experience unforgettable.

Good trip, but meals arrangement can be improved
Pros: Karen, the tour provider, was fantastic and very responsive with chats. The tour guide was friendly and good at taking pictures It's better option than Rainbow mountain because it's less crowded Cons: The breakfast and lunch were terrible. They limit only 1 a quarter size of egg for breakfast. The lunch was barely edible. It's a bit long to get there. Altitude sickness: Please be aware and bring your oxygen.

Why this scores 72

Palccoyo Rainbow Mountain from Cusco with transfers and lunch: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cusco.
How much does Palccoyo Rainbow Mountain from Cusco with transfers and lunch cost?
+
Prices start at $55 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cusco usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Palccoyo Rainbow Mountain from Cusco with transfers and lunch take?
+
Plan for about 12.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cusco is not rushed.
Is Palccoyo Rainbow Mountain from Cusco with transfers and lunch worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 72 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 15 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cusco, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Palccoyo Rainbow Mountain from Cusco with transfers and lunch?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Palccoyo Rainbow Mountain from Cusco with transfers and lunch suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 7. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 12.5-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Palccoyo Rainbow Mountain from Cusco with transfers and lunch?
+
Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cusco can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cusco and add a light layer if any part of the 12.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Palccoyo Rainbow Mountain from Cusco with transfers and lunch start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cusco within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Cusco?
+
On Outty we rank every Cusco experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Sacred Valley Full Day Tour, Peruvian Cooking Class Cocktails and Market Tour in Cusco, Cusco: Rainbow Mountain & Red Valley Premium Day Trip with Meals. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Cusco?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Cusco?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
