    amazing OWD course

I did my OWD (open water diver) certification with Divinguru and I had an amazing experience. From theorie in different languages available to the first diving experience learning skills in a rather big tank, to the first dives in the ocean - everything was well organised and I always felt really safe while diving. Ellie, our instructor, helped us with all our questions, pointed out hidden aquatic life to us and made the whole course a lot of fun. Thank you very much for opening the under water world to me, I will never forget this experience!

Response from the operator: Thank you Alicia very much for your review and congratulation on becoming PADI Open Water Diver! Thank you for choosing Divinguru for your scuba education and we wish you safe and wonderful dives in future! It was great fun to do the course with you, keep diving :)

    I had wonderful experience!

Online booking allowed me to plan my vacation. Discount for booking in advance was a pleasant bonus. At first I planned to get only OWD certification and some fun dives. Dive center staff helped me get the most out of my limited vacation time. As a result I got OWD, AOWD and Enriched Air certification. My instructor, Norbert, has perfect English, so I had no trouble understanding him even though English isn't my native language. During the dives I felt safe and comfortable. Once the skills were finished, training dives turned into fun dives. We were watching underwater life. Norbert drew my attention to sneaky aquatic life, so that I wouldn't have missed them. It took some time for me to master buoyancy control, but once I did, I had wonderful time exploring underwater world. Dive center organized pick up and drop off by tuk-tuk. It was very convenient and the driver was very nice. Unlike many other tuk-tuk drivers, he didn't try to suggest unwanted services. I am extremely happy I chose this dive center to start my journey into the underwater world.

Response from the operator: Thank you Vitali for your 5 star review and congratulation on passing the PADI OWD course with us. We are happy that you chose our dive school for the PADI course and liked the whole diving experience with us. You are more than welcomed to dive with us again on your next trip to Sri Lanka. Keep diving! Take care and see you next time :)

PADI Scuba Diver Course: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Negombo.

How much does PADI Scuba Diver Course cost?

    +

Prices start at $236 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Negombo usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does PADI Scuba Diver Course take?

    +

Plan for about 48 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Negombo is not rushed.

Is PADI Scuba Diver Course worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 71 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 11 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Negombo, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule PADI Scuba Diver Course?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is PADI Scuba Diver Course suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 48-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book PADI Scuba Diver Course?

    +

Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Negombo can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Negombo and add a light layer if any part of the 48-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does PADI Scuba Diver Course start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Negombo within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Negombo?

    +

On Outty we rank every Negombo experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Private Car & Driver for 07 Days Tour In Sri Lanka, Most Popular Round Tour in Sri Lanka (10 Days), Highly recommended multi day tour in Sri Lanka. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Negombo?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Negombo?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
