Would not use this for operator

They never showed up at the meeting point. We waited an hour, they never return phone or email. Thankfully Viator refunded this.

Unfortunately the tour was canceled

It's hard to review the tour because it was canceled due to the volcano activity was high. There was no proactive communication alerting us until after we stood outside the closed office for 45 mins and got a response to our WhatsApp message confirming the cancellation, as we expected would be the case.

Response from the operator: Dear Thank you for having booked with us, we really sorry about the incovenience, we will take into consideration your comments to improve ourselves

Great day!

What a great day. Picked up from my hotel and taken to the foot of Volcano Pacaya. Tour guide met us from the bus and stayed with us for the hike up and back, despite a diverse group. There was a mismatch in the group which meant some of the faster walkers had to wait for others, but after some of the slower walkers were coaxed onto horses we were able to make up the pace. We had the perfect weather - warm with a breeze and fantastic views - first of volcano Agua and the Pacaya. Bought a couple of lava souvenirs and then came down, back on the bus and dropped at the Kuwilal thermal spa which was much needed after the dusty walk! Spa was great and the staff had fun making us go hot and cold on the thermal circuit! Some tips: take water, comfy supportive shoes (good trainers are ok (but nothing less), and a swimsuit for the spa (towels are provided). Despite thinking we'd paid upfront, we all got charged 100 quetzals (cash only) to enter the National Park. Not enough to lower the star rating, but it would have been good to know this upfront. Also, be prepared for a bit of confusion at the spa lunch - they had to be reminded that we were part of the pre-paid tour and some Spanish would be useful!

Response from the operator: Dear Megan Thank you for having booked with us, we really appreciate your comments about your experience with us, we will take into consideration your observations.

Don't waste your money. Bad tour service!

Very disappointed, no answer from the travel agency nor contact. There was no one at their office in antigua for pick up. We did not go on tour with them as I was not able to get in contact with them. And I have still not heard back from the tour company. I have called and emailed them multiple times still no answer! I want my money back and it was a horrible experience. I would suggest people save their money and not use their services. There are way cheaper buses from antigua to pacaya that are way more reliable.

Great experience!

I bought as a Christmas present for my brother-in-law, nephew and daughter. They all enjoyed. Hike was not very strenuous for them and then they enjoyed the thermal spa circuit.

Pacaya Volcano Tour and Hot Springs from Antigua: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Antigua.

How much does Pacaya Volcano Tour and Hot Springs from Antigua cost?

+

Prices start at $65 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Antigua usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Pacaya Volcano Tour and Hot Springs from Antigua take?

+

Plan for about 9 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Antigua is not rushed.

Is Pacaya Volcano Tour and Hot Springs from Antigua worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 63 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.2/5 across 71 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Antigua, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Pacaya Volcano Tour and Hot Springs from Antigua?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Pacaya Volcano Tour and Hot Springs from Antigua suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 12. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 9-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Pacaya Volcano Tour and Hot Springs from Antigua?

+

Around 25 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Antigua can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Antigua and add a light layer if any part of the 9-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Pacaya Volcano Tour and Hot Springs from Antigua start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Antigua within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Antigua?

+

On Outty we rank every Antigua experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Antigua ATV Sunset Tour, Authentic Guatemalan Cooking Class in Antigua, Antigua ATV Coffee Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Antigua?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Antigua?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
