Strongly recommend
Outstanding tour. Highly detailed and accommodating. We learned more than we expected. The guy was able to make the street come alive and away we wouldn’t have experienced on her own.
Response from the operator: I'm so glad you enjoyed the tour. I really enjoyed spending time with you all.

Just ok
I don't recommend this tour in fall or winter.. it started at 7 PM - was dark for most of tour and at the end couldn't even see Holyrood cuz it wasn't lit up and it was pitch black dark. So we just looked through a gate at nothing but darkness. A lot of the tour is looking at pictures on the guides phone. It just seemed silly. One of the points of interest we looked at in a dark close was the location of where the coffee service was while shooting- not necessarily a highlight. Honestly there was not much to this tour that you couldn't just do and find on your own with a little research.
Response from the operator: You are so right if people do the research they can visit the locations without a guide and that can be said about any tour. Yes, Scotland gets dark in the winter, that's outwith my control unfortunately. I am sorry you were only interested in the Film locations, but the tour covers Novel Locations too and that was the main reason we stopped at the Close that the coffe truck was in, it was a perfect sheltered spot out of the rain & wind to discuss it. I am surprised you did not like the photos as they show what the locations looked like when they had been set up for filming. I still find it amazing how much work goes into it. Yes the Palace was not lit up, but most people had already seen it or were going to visit the next day so it's not the end of the world and again it's outwith my control. This is a Novel Location and the way it's filmed in the Show is different so we do discuss it. But if you are not a Novel fan you can find that bit less apealing. The tour description clearly states it is both Film and Novel locations. I think here, if you had done your research and read the description you could have saved yourself the dissapointment.

Amazing Outlander Tour
We had an amazing tour with our guide Sam. She provided us with a lot of informations about the Outlander series and she also told us a lot about the historical background of Edinburgh. We would totally recommed this tour.
Response from the operator: Thank you for the lovely review. I'm glad you enjoyed the tour. It's a nice way to spend an evening in Edinburgh. Hope the rest of you trip went well.

Very Memorable Outlander Walking Tour!
I had a really special time at the Outlander walking tour in Edinburgh. The weather was very unfortunate that day (super cold and rainy), so I was the only person who wanted to brave the weather, and I was so grateful my wonderful tour guide Sam stuck it out with me. I ended up with an awesome and personalized tour all to myself! I loved the mix of Outlander info (both TV show and book) and Scottish history and was also happy my tour guide was an enthusiastic Outlander fan. It was a really unique and special afternoon and I highly recommend it to any Outlander fan visiting Edinburgh.
Response from the operator: I'm so glad you braved the weather with me, not everyone does. I honestly thought I was going to be standing there on my own. I really enjoyed our tour and hope you can come back again one day. Hopefully when it's less cold, wet and windy. It's always a joy to chat with fellow fans about Outlander, the Jacobites and Scotland's history.

Fantastic walking tour!
My mum and I recently took this tour during our trip to Scotland - wow! Sam was super informative, allowed us to take our time and provided us with so many Outlander sites. It was an added bonus to be able to see pictures from filming and close up shots of Catriona and Sam. Absolutely wonderful! Would recommend to any Outlander fan.
Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to review the tour I'm so glad you enjoyed it. I had fun spending time with you both, hope you can come back Scotland again one day.

Outlander Walking Tour of Edinburgh's Old Town: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Edinburgh.
How much does Outlander Walking Tour of Edinburgh's Old Town cost?
+
Prices start at $402 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Edinburgh usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Outlander Walking Tour of Edinburgh's Old Town take?
+
Plan for about 1.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Edinburgh is not rushed.
Is Outlander Walking Tour of Edinburgh's Old Town worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 51 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.4/5 across 14 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Edinburgh, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Outlander Walking Tour of Edinburgh's Old Town?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Outlander Walking Tour of Edinburgh's Old Town suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Outlander Walking Tour of Edinburgh's Old Town?
+
Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Edinburgh can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Edinburgh and add a light layer if any part of the 1.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Outlander Walking Tour of Edinburgh's Old Town start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Edinburgh within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Edinburgh?
+
On Outty we rank every Edinburgh experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include The Chocolatarium Chocolate Tour Experience in Edinburgh, The Mountebank Comedy Walk of Edinburgh, Edinburgh Old Town: Historical Guided Walking Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Edinburgh?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Edinburgh?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
