Scavenger Hunt + Escape Room = Escapely!!!

EASY PICKUP: - Open 24/7 - Game was available next day after order - Accessibility: No steps, nor entryway lip/threshold to enter; pull door without automatic door openers (relatively accessible to wheelchair users) EASY TO MODERATE DIFFICULTY: 5/10 (we are avid escape room users, so we found this to be pretty easy, but still fun) TONS OF FUN: We loved that it made us notice hidden gems or new details of familiar places. We even learned some history. Several of the clues were very clever. It was the best of escape rooms and scavenger hunts combined! TIME TO COMPLETE: About 2 hours and 15 minutes ACCESSIBILITY: Videos had transcripts. This may be difficult to enjoy for players who are blind or low vision. Though the clues can potentially be read by screen readers or other teammates, many clues require you to scan the external environment visually to look for clues. This could still be done with assistive tech of course, but is simply something to consider. The envelopes in the box were also only differentiated visually, and contain visual information. One person in the group needs to know how to use a QR code and have a device that can access the internet and the QR codes. It may also be helpful to have access to Google Maps. Most locations were mobility accessible with curb cuts that have rumble strips, sidewalks, and ramps to enter. There are 6 steps without railings, nor high contrast to differentiate them, to enter Kalorama Park from Columbia Rd. However, if you take the entrance from the intersection of 19th St and Kalorama Rd, there appears to be a ramped entrance. There were plenty of places to find shade and a few places where you could sit on a bench or wall. Would not have a lot of cover from rain or snow.

    Adams Morgan Escapely FTW!

We did the Escapely outdoor scavenger hunt in Adams Morgan about a year ago and absolutely loved it. Our group was five adults and two kids under 10, and it worked surprisingly well for everyone—the kids participated on and off but stayed engaged the whole time. It was such a fun way to explore Adams Morgan and discover cool spots and details we never would’ve noticed otherwise. We covered a lot of ground, and the neighborhood was perfect for it, with easy pit stops along the way for a drink or a bite to eat. The challenges were clever and thoughtfully designed, especially how they incorporated buildings, street art, and the surrounding environment. It struck a great balance between challenging and fun, and by the end we were already excited to try more Escapely games in other neighborhoods. Highly recommend for groups looking for a unique, interactive way to explore a city.

Great afternoon in Adams Morgan solving puzzles and exploring neighbourhood

My husband and I had a blast doing the Adams Morgan escape game! I really liked how well planned out the route was - no real doubling back, things were on the way, the stops were at places where there was space to linger or even sit - no small feat when DC streets can get a little full of people at time! Also kudos for use of local landmarks, one of which was part of my favourite puzzle in the game :) Great recommendation of The Diner as a start point, and we ended up having a drink at the Roofers Union rooftop bar nearby while solving the endgame. While a little pricey, it's not more than we would've paid for an escape room or movie, so I thought it was fair. Cute little relaxed 3-4 hour date!

A fun -- and different -- family outing

I highly recommend this as a family outing. There were 6 of us in our group -- in a wide age range; my husband and me (in our early 70s); our daughter and her husband (in their 40s) and our granddaughter and a friend (both 10). There were puzzles for everyone; it was a good assortment. The Hints were a big help in some of the more complicated puzzles; but we never had to go all the way to the Explanation, so the difficulty level was just right. I have lived in or near DC for most of my life, but the game showed me parts of Adams Morgan that I had never seen. It was great. If I had any suggestion, it would be that the game include a link to a walking map; we had a little trouble finding one of the locations but we ultimately did find it so no big concern. We plan to do the Escapely in Georgetown, too!

    Perfect adventure for the family!

This is the 2nd Escapely game that we have done and our family loves them! We were given one for Boston, where our extended family lives, and we purchased the one for Adams Morgan for Fathers Day. We have 3 teenagers, and it is such a great way to explore new, and old, places. The clues are just challenging enough to really make us sit and think, but definitely not easy enough to run through it quickly.

Outdoor Escape Room in Washington, D.C. - Adams Morgan: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Washington DC.

How much does Outdoor Escape Room in Washington, D.C. - Adams Morgan cost?

    +

Prices start at $75 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Washington DC usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Outdoor Escape Room in Washington, D.C. - Adams Morgan take?

    +

Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Washington DC is not rushed.

Is Outdoor Escape Room in Washington, D.C. - Adams Morgan worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 57 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 18 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Washington DC, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Outdoor Escape Room in Washington, D.C. - Adams Morgan?

    +

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is Outdoor Escape Room in Washington, D.C. - Adams Morgan suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Outdoor Escape Room in Washington, D.C. - Adams Morgan?

    +

Around 6 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Washington DC can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Washington DC and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Outdoor Escape Room in Washington, D.C. - Adams Morgan start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Washington DC within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Washington DC?

    +

Washington is the rare city where the headline attractions cost nothing and the scarce resource is access. Timed entry to the Smithsonian museums, Capitol and White House tours, and the night monument runs by bike or bus are what fill up. Our ranking rewards operators who secure the passes themselves rather than telling you to sort it out at the door. On Outty we rank every Washington DC experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Washington DC Small-Group Sightseeing Experience, Arlington Cemetery Small-Group Tour & Changing of the Guards, Washington DC "See the City" Guided Sightseeing Segway Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Washington DC?

    +

Late March to April for cherry blossom, or September to November for cool museum weather. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Washington DC?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
