Must do cooking class in Osaka!

I had a great time with Mari learning three classic dishes to take home from my trip to Japan. The dishes were broken down in to easy steps, which made all of the dishes accessible and easy to recreate at home. This is a fantastic cooking class, can’t recommend it highly enough!

    A must-try on your trip!

I 100% recommend this during your trip. We had a great time with Emi, she was so lovely and welcoming and more than happy to share more about live in Japan and tips for our stay. We really enjoyed going to the supermarket with Emi, it gave us an insight into everyday live and we were able to compare it to supermarkets back home. We were constantly asking questions about unfamiliar produce which Emi happily answered. The cooking studio itself is right by the supermarket. It’s a beautiful, spacious, professional kitchen area. We really enjoyed getting away from the hustle and bustle of Osaka for the morning and learning to cook like the locals. The food was absolutely delicious and we’ve been cooking the recipes at home ever since we returned. Thank you so much for this experience and a special thank you to Emi!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We're thrilled to hear you had such a great time with Emi and enjoyed the supermarket visit, cooking experience, and delicious food. We'll be sure to share your kind words with her. Thank you for your recommendation, and we hope you continue enjoying the recipes at home. We look forward to welcoming you on another MagicalTrip tour in the future!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We're so happy to hear you enjoyed the cooking class and had fun making everything from scratch. It's great to know the supermarket visit and homemade dishes made the experience even more special. Informative, relaxed, fun with delicious food! Highly recommend 5 Stars!

The cooking class with Tony was the highlight of our trip to Japan. Tony met us with a smile and a relaxed vibe. He took us to a local supermarket to buy our ingredients for lunch and took us through popular food and drink enjoyed by him and other locals. Tony also took us to a local shrine, explained the culture. We made an offering and said a prayer. The kitchen was well equipped and clean. Enjoying some music, my husband and I did a sake tasting. Tony explained the differences with the types of sake and we did a blind tasting! The food was absolutely delicious and Tony was an excellent teacher! We could have hung out with Tony all day. Thank you so much Tony for a wonderful experience that our family will fondly remember for a long time. I can't recommend this class and Tony enough. i can't wait to try and make the recipes at home. Thank you!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful and heartfelt review! We're truly honored to hear that your cooking class with Tony was the highlight of your trip to Japan. It’s wonderful to know that you enjoyed every part of the experience. Thank you for your recommendation. We hope you have fun recreating the recipes at home, and we would love to welcome you back for another memorable experience the next time you're in Japan!

Osaka Soul Food Cooking Class — 3 Dishes, Sake & Market Visit: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Osaka.

How much does Osaka Soul Food Cooking Class — 3 Dishes, Sake & Market Visit cost?

    +

Prices start at $79 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Osaka usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Osaka Soul Food Cooking Class — 3 Dishes, Sake & Market Visit take?

    +

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Osaka is not rushed.

Is Osaka Soul Food Cooking Class — 3 Dishes, Sake & Market Visit worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 85 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 117 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Osaka, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Osaka Soul Food Cooking Class — 3 Dishes, Sake & Market Visit?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Osaka Soul Food Cooking Class — 3 Dishes, Sake & Market Visit suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Osaka Soul Food Cooking Class — 3 Dishes, Sake & Market Visit?

    +

Around 41 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Osaka can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Osaka and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Osaka Soul Food Cooking Class — 3 Dishes, Sake & Market Visit start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Osaka within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Osaka?

    +

On Outty we rank every Osaka experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Hungry Osaka Street Food Tour:15 Tastings & 3 Drinks with a Local, Ultimate Osaka Walking Tour: Castle, Dotonbori, Gems & Lunch, Osaka Castle Walking Tour and Castle Tower Admission. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Osaka?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Osaka?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
