Amazing Experience with a true Kendo Master!
Five Stars are not enough for this experience! The Sensei was an amazingly gregarious, kind, talented and patient guide through the Kendo experience! Enough great things cannot be said of this man. The Sensei meet me at the street as he was helping an elderly lady into the cab I was exiting. So by design or accident he was attentive and committed to the experience. Again, not sure if by design or luck in my booking, but my experience was completely one on one. I had the complete attention and benefit of the Sensei’s knowledge, experience, humor, kindness and skills for the entire time. It was absolutely incredible. And the Sensei’s patience with the lack of skill was fantastic. With forty years studying Kendo he was not even slightly annoyed at the fumblings of an older not quite in shape person. If you have ever wanted to try Kendo, this is the place to do it! Amazing! Note, this is a bit of a workout!

Incredible immersive experience with a Kendo Master!
Five stars does not do this experience justice! The Sensei greeted me at the street, perhaps not by design as he helped an elderly lady into the cab I arrived in, but it set the tone for the entire experience. In my case the experience was completely one on one. The Sensei gave me his complete attention and patience for the entire time. This truly was an immersive dive into Kendo. The Sensei was gregarious, kind, understanding and above all patient. My obvious lack of coordination, balance or anything resembling skill did not phase or give him pause. His 40 plus years of experience in the art was a wonder to behold when he let it shine. But he went out of his way to try and nurture and encourage my learning. This experience may lead me to taking up the art back at home. Words come with great difficulty to describe what a wonderful experience this was! One thing to note is this is a workout and be prepared to sweat!

Great exercise and fantastic fun!
Great exercise and fantastic fun! Our group was small 3 people + sensei) but that meant we each got a lot of focus. Very educational, and very fun. The armour fit perfectly, and though the gloves were a tight fit for me - it's worth noting I'm 6'3" with large hands anyway. I definitely recommend it! Just bring some water/juice, you'll get thirsty!

Fun active experience
I’ve seen a lot of references to kendo and sword fighting in anime but it was really fun to be able to experience it first hand. We did some warm ups, then learns the stances. Then we practiced different swings and had a quick sparring session. Maeda-san was an excellent host. He is very skilled with kendo. I can barely keep up with his movements when we sparred.

Brilliant cultural experience
Brilliant experience- our teacher was very passionate about his sport and taught our small group very well. He helped us get correctly dresses, taught us etiquette and Japanese stretching before a well paced lesson in the basic movements. We went on to do trial strikes before playing a few games. Overall it was a brilliant experience and I would highly recommend for anyone wanting to experience a local sport with a long history.

Osaka 2-Hour Genuine Kendo / Samurai Experience In Japan: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Osaka.
How much does Osaka 2-Hour Genuine Kendo / Samurai Experience In Japan cost?
+
Prices start at $16000 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Osaka usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Osaka 2-Hour Genuine Kendo / Samurai Experience In Japan take?
+
Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Osaka is not rushed.
Is Osaka 2-Hour Genuine Kendo / Samurai Experience In Japan worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 67 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 68 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Osaka, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Osaka 2-Hour Genuine Kendo / Samurai Experience In Japan?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Osaka 2-Hour Genuine Kendo / Samurai Experience In Japan suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Osaka 2-Hour Genuine Kendo / Samurai Experience In Japan?
+
Around 24 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Osaka can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Osaka and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Osaka 2-Hour Genuine Kendo / Samurai Experience In Japan start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Osaka within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Osaka?
+
On Outty we rank every Osaka experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Hungry Osaka Street Food Tour:15 Tastings & 3 Drinks with a Local, Ultimate Osaka Walking Tour: Castle, Dotonbori, Gems & Lunch, Osaka Castle Walking Tour and Castle Tower Admission. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Osaka?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Osaka?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
